In a pre rally press conference Ralliart GB have annouced a split with driver Tannat.

"We are very grateful for Tannat's performances on the first two rounds of the 2008 BRC. Clearly he has showed us of what our car is capable. Over the break there were many discussions and it was decided we should end the partnership amicably and allow Tannat to pursue other options.

"No burned bridges or ill feelings exist between Ralliart GB and Tannat, just a mutual agreement of what is best for both parties."

In a statement from Tannat: "I appreciate Ralliart GB suppling me with an excellent ride for the BRC. We accomplished much, and there is even more to accomplish, but an appraisal of matters made this the most logical solution."

Chatter amongst competitors has it that Tannat was very disappointed with the performance of the Lancer at the Pirelli Rally, leading him to cancel his obligations to Ralliart GB and pursue options elsewhere for the BRC.

Expect a press announcement from Tannat regarding his new drive in the upcoming days.

STOP THE PRESS!

Ralliart GB hires jso1985:
After the split between the British team and American driver tannat, the Mitsubishi outfit wasted no time and hired Bolivian sensation Jso1985, who's future on the BRC had been unclear since Citroën Sport decided to concentrate more on their WRC efforts where they are fighting for both drivers and teams championship and weren't much willing to cooperate with their drivers on other championships.
"I'm glad I'm getting the chance, besides the Goodwood festival I have never driven a Lancer but I'm confident I can take a good results, the whole team has been so far really helpful and we hope once we go back to gravel our true speed can be shown" were the words of jso1985

You may have done well at Goodwood in that limousine, but you'll be hating yourself once you finish this round.

Far too twisty for the Lancer-sine

Sources have confirmed that Tannat has joined forces with Droprive UK to drive a Subaru Impreza for the remaining rounds of the 2008 BRC.

"This is a dream for me. Ever since I was young I've followed the exploits of Ravid Dichards and his outfit. Now I am driving for him...

"I expect great success with the Impreza and am looking forward to providing a solid challenge to NOR, Ramore, and Steve."

In a statement from team owner, Ravid Dichards:

"We couldn't be happier in signing Tannat. Already he is showing quicker pace on tarmac than either of our WRC drivers. We are hoping this will serve as a familiarity period which will lead to a WRC commitment for 2009."

"As a yank Tannat has unique access to sponsorship opportunities that can make me even richer, and I can't think of better hiring stimulus than that."

13th July 2008, 11:45
SOrry to tell you this Ravid, but watch Tannat, he can be crafty with his car setup. You and him may have to sort out any bugs before the Rally. He can change the car at a moments notice. Apart from that, you have a great driver!

Official announcement!!

There is an error in the initial set of rules for this rally:

Shakedown is stage 6, not stage 9!

The shakedown is the only thing that has changed, what seems to be the problem?

Rat

dont worry, I'm just stirring the pot! If anything it made me concentrate for the Rally. A 5km shakedown stage did seem very interesting. Thanks for the correction anyway.

I'll throw something out JTL

Italy is one rally where competitors are sometimes "victimized" by wet stages..

Some people draw all dry and some draw a preponderence of wet.

I have three ideas:

1) Specify stage by stage weather conditions and allow rally to be done in single stage mode

2) Let competitors do rally in sigle rally mode, repeating any wet stages in single stage mode and addtionally submitting the dry time (notifying the orgznizer)

3) Keep my damn mouth shut and let things fall as they may.. :D

What do you think? I know last year on these stages either Ramore or NOR was caught out on a stage with bad weather.

Would be nice for everyone to have equivalent competing surfaces, IMHO

Cheers,

Tannat

Well, I guess that you have just summed up what I love about Rallying in that last sentence!

The weather has always been an issue in both real life and Sim rallying, and even more so in the BRC as the summerweather in Britain is highly unpredictable!

Pick up any BRC Isle of Man review video (I can recommend the stuff from Duke Video) and they will all be like (insert wonderfully silly brit accent here) "Will it rain this year..." - "..ooooh it was raining cats and dogs last year.."

The weather forecasts in CMR2 can, as in real life, be trusted to some extent. But the experienced driver will know when it's time to look to the skies one more time and perhaps gamble a bit on the tyrechoice.

Exept maybe for Loeb and Haenen who both seem to be getting it right every time :D

The Two Basses Team Europe has entered both of their Skoda Fabia S2000 in the BRC Isle Of Man International, the cars will be driven by Current British Rally Championship leader NOR (Czech Rep.) and JTLarsen (Denmark) who is currently 6th in the BRC.

JTLarsen: "The IOM is without a doubt the hardest asphalt rally of the BRC season, one second you're on tight twisty roads lined by stonewalls, the next you are on open fast roads lined by the occational three or rock. These conditions suits the Fabia S2000 perfectly, and both NOR and I feel highly competitive in the youngest car in the field!"

Tannat, Just let the Rally determine the weather.. if it rains, it rains. thats the beauty of this game, you get a good run on 1 Rally, the next Rally it's crap.

We need a win here if we hope to have a shot at the championship.

A good rally for us, but not certain if it is enough...

Had 2 PBs (including one on stage 10 :up :) and the rest of my times were good, but nothing stellar

Probably hitting walls and other barriers a bit too much on these stages, but they are deliberate hits, and help us round the corner.

Fingers crossed...

Also did the rally tonight without preparation. I was pleasantly surprised by two personal best times, but lost over 10 seconds with a silly spin on stage 9. I was very lucky with the weather, apart from dense fog on stage 6 (which my processor really didn't like...).

In my case, there are three factors, I think. New laptop with better graphics performance, Fabia seems more handy on tarmac than Focus, and finally I'm driving more fluent then before. It's better then pushing hard and braking hard. Otherwise I didn't practise before Manx, so maybe that's the success key :)

I believe it was mirrored for the Monte-one big diff

I got some lousy weather on a few stages of the Monte

I didn't recce the Italy stages for the Monte-another huge factor

I heavily recce'd these stages (huge break)-big factor

Change in setup-defininitely netted some seconds for me...
