Wim, lucky there are more then only 2 pugs every rally. It's not every rally the same thing, so it's quite different from WRC IMO. But you're right, the pugs are dominating.

Loix took 2.5secs again from Vouilloz, he's 9.2 in front now.

Like usual in IRC the rallyes are fantastic. It's a pitty that it seems like a Cup - a Peugeot 207 Cup.

You guys are the best. Just went for a ride, now I know what happen in the course thanks to you. :D :D :D

would like to know what the czechs on the stage (public) have to say about the performance of Fabia S2000. And a comparation with his oponnents.

The 2 Abarth drivers out with gearbox problems... . I expected more from Fiat, like the last race.

HaCo
23rd August 2008, 16:14
Yeah, I wonder as well what the Fabia is doing, maybe the one man show is over next year for Peugeot, that would be great for Skoda! They should arrive now (15mins for the stage +/-)

Edit...

Vouilloz improved Bouffiers time with 15secs. Loix is 5secs slower :( but sitll in the lead :D

Just coming back in hotel after very nice day of rallying. We were on stage's Pindula 1, Semetin 1, Sadverice 2 and Trojak 2. The Kronos Peugeot were really very fast with Loix fastest of them, but Voullioz not far behind. The rest was a little behind with Rosetti and Bouffier very good also. I also was taking some split times of Kopecky but he was allways changing starting time, so not really easy to compare, but for me the Fabia is allready very fast and in the same times as the frontrunners, as he was yesterday at shakedown. No problems for them. The time penalty for Bouffier will be annulated, because it seems that it was an error of time-marshal. At least that is what Nicolas Klinger was telling me.
Also pitty for Grzyb, who was doing very nice times, and was fastest Fiat in the race. They are really very far away of Pug times tough. In two wheel drive it is Beres who is leading but not far in front of Tlustak. Let's see tomorrow, because today it was dry, but this evening it was raining. ;)
More news tomorrow.

Another good round for Kronos team, with their 3 cars in the first 4 places.
Second victory this year for Loix, and a gound amount for Vouilloz, who consolidated his lead on IRC.
Unfortunatelly Abarth weren't competitive. Only 5th place of Travaglia was positive in Barum.
Hope Asturias is more competitive.

There is some info from guys who tried to compare times of Kopecky on the special stage Pindula (SS2/6 - 18,97km, Loix won both of them). One guy was at the start, second one in the finish and they communicated via a mobile phone. And their results? Kopecky was 5 seconds faster than Freddy on SS6...

I´ve attached a picture of Casier´s car after the accident. As you can see, no big damage to the car, both driver and co-driver are OK. After the end of the stage Casier´s been able to drive away (with a little help of mechanics in the boot of the car :) Casier was leaving a paving block road in a village, in the curve there was some gravel, he slided and slightly hit the bank of a bridge while crossing it. Pity Casier couldn´t make it to the finish. Although his VW is not a winning car, still it´s been a solid performance both from the crew and the car. It´s been quite refreshing to see another S2000 than Peugeots and Fiats (and Fabia of course).

We had a very nice rally, and an awesome after-party. Loix was the deserved winner after a very good first day. Nice fight between Voullioz and Bouffier for second place. The Peugeot's were too fast for Fiat's, even if Fiat had a lot of problems. I think the only one who was able to beat Pug's would have been Kopecky. They don't give any official time's of stages, but i am sure Kopecky was very fast. It was difficult to take right splits, because they were allways starting at different moment, i mean not exactly on the minute. Sometimes they waited twenty seconds to start, sometimes they were starting early. But i have seen with my own eyes that the car is very fast. Stupid mistake of Casier, i know the place where he went off, he should have marked gravel in his notes. Pitty about Grzyb, who was doing fine rally, untill he encountered this problems. Nice rally also by Valousek, who made the triomph of Kronos complete with his fourth place, and also best Czech.
Alltough i am still a little bit dizzy after last night's party, we will start our journey back to Belgium in half an hour. Up to Asturias, where hopefully we will have an exellent rally also. ;)

Hi guys, I am back :)

I heard that Kopecky was fastest on SS2 Pindula in saturday morning. He should have been few tenths of a second behind Kresta on 7th kilometer (1,5 km before Kresta crashed). Kresta was 4 seconds fastest from competitive field there. He took wrong tyres for SSS and probably pushing too much. He went off in a slippery corner in very high speed keeping full gas in the ditch and hitting hidden concrete bridge. He said it was such a big crash he didn´t remember it. Interesting thing was only Loix and Vouilloz had cutted tyres on the rear. All other drives had slicks.

About Kopecky and Fabia. I measured him on SSS and he was 4-5 sec. slower than Voilloz every round but in fact he was entertaing the crowd more than racing. A lot of sideways action :) On stages I believe he was able to drive on the pace of front runners. He was also one of the most spectacular drives. Good thing is that Fabia made it to the finish.

It was a nice rally. Maybe first leg was too hard with only one service. It was nice to meet wwbroe and GTA :)

Loix, Bouffier and Basso were very agressive, Vouilloz and Rossetti like TGV. I was dissapointed by Butor and Bettega. In fact Honda has great sound and strong engine but it has very bad suspension. The car was very unstable on the bumps. On the opposite way I was impressed by Pavel Valousek who did great job especialy when going without power steering in the last stage :)

Of course, if they want show for spectators they let everybody know the times, they just wanted to keep the information for themselves, so i think that they run the car with all the right specifications...
I only ask why they did not test more the car in gravel?

I guess that will come with time. It has often been proved it is easier to make an asphalt car fast on gravel than the other way around. Plus of course there is more asphalt in IRC than gravel.

Anyway, I am sure they will test it properly... not like the Corsa e.t.c which nearly made a debut as zero car in Germany before any testing at all!

Generally, I have to agree that watching Fabia was really very promising. A fantastic drive from Jan! As far as I noticed, no major technical failure reported. But there´s one thing nobody mentioned so far: I was spectating at the SS 5 Pindula (some 5:50 min in the stage). Fabia´s engine was evidently losing power, not far from my view point the engine stopped for a while. It didn´t took long till Fabia left sounding OK again. I wonder, if all of this was done on purpose, but in my opinion some minor failure occured.

On the Barum website there is a quote from Jan saying he did have a defect on Pindula. Clearly nothing terminal though as the car kept running after.

]Crash of Fiala. By some wonder without serious injury...

So very lucky. Thank God no one hurt. Enough people hurt in rallys in last few years.

No, he can´t say anything. He only said they had two punctures and no important mechanical problems. He also said in another interwiev that driving S2000 is more fun than WRC as S2000 is lighter (Kresta said the same after Kopna). But it seems to be true that Kopecky was fastest overal on several stages :s mokin:

Did anyone make a table or something on times for the Fabia vs the leaders for the different stages ?

I am guessing that a lot of people made manual timing for the Fabia, but has a stage by stage comparison/table been made ?

It is not possible as there are no confirmed stage times, only section times when You could measure the car from a distant point of wiev. They started into stages in different time each stage, for example 5:30 before Vouilloz, next stage 5:20 before him etc. Official timing wasn´t allowed to measure them. They had their own timekeepers around the stage.

Those times are more or less rumours. It seems Kopecky won 4 stages overal. Pindula 1, Zadverice 1 and some other two. He also had two punctures.
