Even though not on the WRC calender, this kind of feels like a classic Monte Carlo Rally again. But does anyone know the total stage distance?

ironseb
5th July 2008, 14:50
I don't know exactly the total stage distance. But after a quick look to the road map, I think 250-300km. No more.

May be the shortest Montecarl' in the history.

Monte 2009 will be 215.06 competitive miles compared with 224.97 in 2008 according to MN

Also looks like Loeb may do it in a C2 s1600

Ok, so not the shortest but if we compare with 1986…

Loeb with a C2 s1600 ? I don't think so, with this car he won't be able to win.

Or Loeb with a C2 but in "0".

How far is Citroen with the developing of the C3 2000? Any news about it? It would be a perfect debut for the car, on French terrain.

KP5 en KP8: St Bonnet – St Bonnet

I'm surprised they're including St Bonnet after the drivers this year were complaining about safety. If they can cut Ouninpohja out (of Finland), why can this stage still survive?

Are they not the same thing? It's all on the same leg.

Looks like Eurosport is going to do massive coverage of Monte Carlo rally. They will do not less then four hours live coverage, with five special stages covered live. It is first time in history of rally that this is the case (that is what is told). :)

Somebody knows if this live transmission is only for Monte .... or the other rallys have the same ?

I think this is the answer that rallys need..... live stages on TV ! Promotion .

Make the rally a attractive market with more and more things like this.

I think it would generate a nice profits for everyone !

The MotorSport World , and Rallys in particular , needs a TV Channel to make live broadcasts of all Rallys a bit all over the world.

From CIR , Spanish ,French , Czech , Bulgarian, Portuguese , Hungarian , ERC Rallys , IRC Rallys , WRC Rallys ... well .... a bit of all Championships and Rallys , as is done with football.

I know , i'm dreaming a bit ..... but ..first the idea ... after ...the completion.

I hope one day access to a service like that .... This is what I call quality of life .

Looks like Monte Carlo 2009 will have 359 KMs of special stages, so i don't think you can say that it is short rally, especially when you compare with other rally's in IRC. It is indeed short if you compare with the sixties, but hey, that was another period and i don't think that those days will appear again. :D

I read another interview with Quesnel saying that Loeb could drive other cars next year (due to shorter WRC calendar) but only Peugeots. Seb would not do Monte unless he can compete for a win so this would be great news!

Point 12.3 Starting order:
At the start of the first section at TC0, the ten first cars will start with an interval of two minutes, and the rest with one minute interval.

At the start of section 2 and 3, the first 10 cars will start in reverse order of standings after first day, with an interval of two minutes. The rest of the cars will start with interval of one minute and in order of standings.

After all, the hope to have the Peugeot official Portuguese team at Rally of Monte Carlo have gone down. Due to the lack of response in time of a possible sponsor, Bruno Magalhães will have to wait for later the definition of its sports program for 2009.

The possibility of conducting a mini-program in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge remains standing, but the truth is that this time everything is still very unclear. For Carlos Barros, the only guarantee is "not being stopped, although we have to remain waiting for the definition of the program," he said.

Good news, but it will indeed depend with what car he will be at start. If it is same car like last year then i don't think he will be very fast, since he only had troubles with that car. If you read the article it suggest that it could concern a factory car tough, lets wait and see if there is any truth in it. ;)

It is possible to use this road to go to top of Turini, at least if you do it before the road will be closed, that is two hours in front of first car. But the road will only be open again after last car has gone trough second run of Turini stage. Is that what you want to know or is it something else?

i was thinking about the live results also, for sure there is no splits. Have anyone any ideas? Meeke is doing his own SMS service.

http://www.rally-live.com will have results service for Monte, but until now they don't update very quickly

http://www.acm.mc/ also logically will provide live-results but I never used it(at the time of WRC)so no idea how perform it will

i have no panic, but i will be away from my pc for the whole rallyweek, and it is not so good the search for a result site out on the stage....

so i would prefer to save a link in my phone before i start

thx

As much as it pains me to say it, maybe the IRC/Eurosport people should have set up a similar site to the WRC site, with split times, SMS updates etc

Yes why dont they?
If they are to compete with WRC, they also need to take them on whaere they are strong!

GPS tracking systems and other stuff is that, what makes the WRChamp the most expensive way of rallying. That's why there is so much competetive drivers and interesting fights in IRC. And I really wouldn't be happy if IRC became so poor rubbish like these days WRChamp...

Finally :p :

But I remember in past years the site was quite quick to update but also sometimes slow(frozen results for quite long time)...hope it'll be OK for Monte :mark:

Will any of the very good czech sites have result services for IRC ?

Are there any live outdoor webcams in the area, to see the conditions ?
