Thanks for the cheque Chigley - very much appreciated - she has obviously been looking after you very well judging by your generosity!

Now where were we....

While Chigley awaits his just desserts... (post #155)

A couple more items for you to bid for.

Item 36: Info on this from Ascar Dave: 2000 Shirt was when the ASCAR series was being set up and used for at promotional events and test days – size large make Extreme racewear

I seem to recall that just before closedown for our new look Chigley had bid £10 for the Ascar shirt, and Deadsquirrell had offered £11 with the comment 'Let's see if Chigley's got £12'.
Soooo, Let's carry on where we left off with this item, with Deadsquirrel's £11 bid in front at present, running till 9.00pm Tuesday 12th December.

Well, not too much activity lately, so the 2000 Ascar shirt goes to Deadsquirrel with his bid of £11.00 - pm will be on the way soon DS.

Now, we have some interesting stocking fillers here. Want that programme from the meeting you missed? Programme got rather tatty during the course of a windy Rockingham? (ours sometimes only just survive a days signature hunting!)

We have a selection of mint condition programmes up for grabs. Rather than list a load of item numbers, I'll give some details and you can bid for programmes by date if that is OK. I'll provide photos of specific programmes on request :)

11 May 2003 Rounds 1/2, Days of Thunder, Fold out style with poster overleaf of driver information etc. Poster has the #44 Lego Racers car driven by Anthony Swan and the #42 Texaco Havoline Car driven by Niklas Loven.

8 June 2003 rounds 3/4, Days of Thunder, Fold out style to give another large poster, Showing Ben Collins in the #84 Territorial Army Car Heading the pack. Complete with race card and driving experiences leaflet.

27 July 2003 Rounds 5/6, Days of Thunder, Fold out style with a large poster on the reverse showing the #4 car driven by Alejandro Lince and Liberty X who performed at that event. Again, complete with race card. We have a number of programmes for this meeting.

24 August 2003 Rounds 7/8, Days of Thunder, Fold out style with poster on the back showing the #40 Intersports Racing Car driven by Kevin Clarke, the #77 Team Catchpole car driven by none other than Phil Weaver and Triple 8 and Kym Marsh who were the main performers on that weekend.

30/31 August 2003 Round 9, Days of Thunder, Normal Booklet style programme we know today. This is from the meeting when the Minardi F1 team came to the Rock, along with The Darkness.

28 September 2003 Rounds 12/13, Days of Thunder, Back to the Fold out style programme, poster overleaf has a picture of the #42 Texaco Havoline Car driven by Niklas Loven on one half and a picture of Daniel Bedingfield on the other half.

Happy to answer any questions about particular programmes.
Now the forum isn't quite so busy how about we leave these running, closing bidding one week after the first bid on any specific programme?

Now, you know you risk getting into trouble when you start making remarks like that...No, No, I'm not going to rise to the bait!!

More of a note to self to do a better proof read next time I delegate the typing to Pit Kid really.... :)
Competition for the PC was pretty hot over the holiday season, and it was easier to get him to agree to type it for me than to try and get to the keyboard myself!!

Got yourself a bloody good bargain IMO!!

Yep, It certainly turned out to be more of a bargain than I expected! I have put my £10 into the fundraising pot, but expect to see this item making a reappearance once the forum gets busier again. Planning on seeing if I can find a way to get a certain Mr Collins to sign it, but don't know how successful I will be.
Best regards

Hello there! Pit Kid is currently in Prague with the Scouts as part of his International Jamboree experience, so I get a go on the PC at last :)
So without further ado a couple of new items

First we have a really useful item for you that I am sure will become highly sought after - a cheerios-racing.com flask style cup so you really can drink that coffee on the run.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j26/GillianCreaser/th_DSC01079.jpg (http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j26/GillianCreaser/DSC01079.jpg)

Our second item is completely unique and really really heavy, so would like to deliver this to Rockingham rather than post it!! Seriously, postage is out of the question on this one.

The donor has very eloquently explained how he came by this piece, so with no apology I am pasting in his story:
14th September 2003 as it turned out was the last visit for ASCAR's to the Lausitz Ring in Germany, Dave, John and myself were all crew on Tony Mumford's 55 Pick Up but fancied making the trip to the Ring for the meeting, we took our passes and blagged our way in to the track, once there we even managed to obtain a paddock car pass! We wandered up and down the garages and talked to all the guy's, we offered our services to a few, and as budgets were tight, and could not transport all their team members, a few said they could use a little help, we helped Kevin Clark and Phil weaver out during practice and race 1. During race 1 Shaun Richardson managed to have a fairly major impact into turn 1, braking the clutch pedal with his ankle!!

Duane came down pit lane and found us, asking if we still wanted to help!! Damn right we did, I run up and down pit lane borrowing bits from John Steward and who ever else had what was needed. Then i got my hands proper dirty re building the front left suspension, ruined a brand new pair of Tommy Hilfiger jeans, but hey.... I'd have given my right arm to be there!

So after the car was finished it went out and raced in the 2nd race, the whole KRR team and us pick up boy's were ecstatic.... after the race Duane and Shaun had a chat and offered us a place on team KRR the following season!! Needless to say we said yes and the rest as they say is history.

So at the end of the meeting all the "scrap" was being cleared up and I asked if I could keep the front left hub, I put it in 3 carrier bags so as not to cover all of my clothes in grease and took it home in my suitcase... god knows what customs thought it was! It went through the parts washer and back to Rockingham where Shaun signed it, I then engraved over his signature and added details of the event.

Now the time has come for me to pass on this piece of history, I will treasure the memory for ever, and the friends I made that weekend..... I hope someone pays a good price for the sake of the cause and treasures the hub too!

Well, technically too late, but we did have more than one of these and would have auctioned another one, so perhaps you're early this time! :)

In time honoured tradition the early bird gets the worm so we can deliver one to you on Sunday. Not being in the business of fleecing anyone it seems fairer to accept you £4.50 bid than your £10 bid as we have more than one.
What time would you like it delivered on Sunday (beginning of the day would be good for us?), and how do you like your coffee :cheese:

Just a quick update for you all.

You may recall we started this thread a little over a year ago to raise funds to send what became 14 local scouts to the World Scout Jamboree, needing to raise a total of £17,500. Through various means - bag packs, tombolas, quiz nights, parking traction engines at Hollowell Steam Fair (a particluar favourite of mine!!), school fetes, carnivals, litter picking etc, the group have just about raised their funds in time. They are all kitted out and are off to represent Northamptonshire on Thurday of this week for what promises to be the experience of a lifetime.

They send a huge THANK YOU to the teams who donated items for sale and the people of this forum who bid for the items - you have raised a mammoth £478 towards this adventure. Pit Kid in particular is very grateful for your kind assistance.

We still have some items for auction, and will be back later in the year. The World Jamboree and family holiday mean we will not be able to deliver items to the August meeting, so we will be back before September with details of the items and the destination for funds raised, most likely another Scouting venture!

See you soon and thank you once again for the helping hand you have given to some young Scouts from Northamptonshire, home of Rockingham Motor Speedway.

Abo

Why not bring the 14 scouts down to the September meeting to help out? Polish the cars, and all that sort of stuff?

Maybe they could put the tent up for the kids we watched doing it on saturday night. It looked like a bit of a disaster come the morning lol

Are there any scouting magazines which could cover their attendance at the meeting? Link it back to the fundraising for the Jamboree and it'll make a nice story for the scouts and a bit of positive publicity for SCSA.
