I dont know if all of you have seen - but the DTM TDR3 championship is up and running again - just add your name to the entry list on the DTM championship thread on this forum if you want to join (pro-sim and own setups).

Of course both the V8 and DTM championships can be competed at the same time. I dont want anyone to leave this championship to join the DTM - they an run as partner series!

Check this sh!t out guys!

With NO handicaps!

Rd 5 Qualifying Update:
1.J.Shell.........1m.26.60
2.Vuko Snr.....1m.26.62

I could do a little better if I could put together my 'perfect lap'.... on my fast lap I still drove into the two U turns on the 'grand prix' portion of the track a bit too hard.

Qualifying Update:

1.wilson_fan....1m.25.21
2.J.Shell.........1m.26.60
3.Vuko Snr.....1m.26.62

I think I can do a little better. I think Vuko is holding back! Yeah, lets keep qualifying going until Sunday.

Got the home crowd behind me. They gave me an extra 1/2second. I find that the key to a good lap here is to focus on getting a smooth exit out of the corners.

ahhh... it was sweet while it lasted :D

how long was I atop the leader board? 27 minutes?

I'm going to take part in my first V8 race this weekend!

I normally prefer DTM, but j.shell has persuaded me to give this a go.

Quali times later this evening or tomorrow morning.

johnny shell
3rd July 2008, 18:54
you really gotta manhandle the V8 cars around a lot more. they remind me of nascars here in the states, where as DTM cars are more like F1 cars.

johnny shell
3rd July 2008, 18:56
wow, nice lap JB. I'll have a beer tonight & toast you with it!

ok, so, maybe I can have a good race against the new guy at least :)

johnny shell
3rd July 2008, 19:00
or RI... I almost forgot about RI!

wow... that'll give us 6 whole cars :D

then if we could only get a couple of you to run the DTM race we'll have two nice healthy series again ;)

pettersolberg29
3rd July 2008, 21:50
Yeah - if we do V8 by the 10th July, then all of you can come and do the reborn DTM.

j.shell - shall we leave qualifying for the DTM open until about the 15th July as everyone inc. us will be busy with the V8s until then? Also give more people a chance to sign up.

wow! busted my ASS to try to get a respectable time here... and I finally did!

it all came down to being sure to brake early enough to be able to power THROUGH the corners... and not being scared to let the tail hang out just a bit.

not enough to scrub off any time... but just a bit.

Just realised I haven't even completed the touring car section of the game (you need to to race at Donington) yet, so I'll have to pass on this until I complete it.

johnny shell
7th July 2008, 11:43
yeah, it takes a fair amount of cups to open up the international circuits....

Brown, Jon Brow
7th July 2008, 20:58
I hope that they don't ruin the track when it gets rebuilt for the British GP in 2010. From Redgate all the way to Coppice is one of the best sections on any track in the world.

johnny shell
7th July 2008, 21:55
it's a hell of a track, that's for sure.

any of you ever been there? driven on it?

So pole goes to the current series leader....there was not much in it. The races could be tight....talk is that Real_illusions could be a surprise...he could not get his new car ready in time for qualifying but would be ready for the races...we shall see!

On a different topic...have you guys tried R Factor? I've just got the latest V8 version, FVR08....its excellent...better than TRD3 Pro-Sim...latest cars & skins...going to try online if I can...my satellite broadband is useless!

it's a hell of a track, that's for sure.

been there plenty of times..also drive round it as well. Its a great track to drive. Craners are really quick and very steep..quite easy to make a mistake in the dry if your not paying attention to the track..

Sorry i didn't turn up for qualifying..had no time to get any driving in..i am however off work saturday so hopefully will be able to get some driving and the races done then!

http://www.leoncamier.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/Donington20Park.gif

here's what the co-owner said of what they're planning on doing to Donington to get ready for the F1 race (from Autosport.com):

The current 2.5-mile circuit, which last hosted a Formula One race in 1993, will be extended by approximately half a mile thanks to the addition of a new loop at the final corner.

A new pit and paddock complex will be constructed on the inside of Starkey's Straight, while the Esses chicane may also be removed or reprofiled to extend the length of the new start-finish straight.

Track co-owner Simon Gillett, who admitted that keeping the run from Redgate to Coppice intact was a key part of their plans.

"Off the Melbourne loop, instead of going around Goddards corner and 180 degrees onto the [current] start-finish straight, you'll go straight on and do a half-mile loop before going back onto the [current] start-finish straight," he said.

Gillett confirmed that the circuit, which also hosts the British round of the MotoGP world championship in July, would remain open during the build that is scheduled to begin in October and will be overseen by FIA-favoured track designer Hermann Tilke.

sounds good to me! other than Tilke being involved of course. I think he courses lack character. but he's not messing with most of it ;)

I don't know whether or not Donington will make for a great F1 circuit. It may be tricky to overtake in high downforce cars. In low downforce touring cars you can pass at nearly every corner, but F1 cars will barely need to touch the brakes from Redgate to McLeans.

johnny shell
10th July 2008, 18:29
yeah, I can see where that would be one big single-file stretch.

they would be fun to watch go through there, but I can't see them getting side-by-side.

Extension until TUESDAY EVENING guys......haven't had a chance to race yet...hopefully this will give more time for every one!

well, I handedly won the 3 lapper! that was a nice change of pace after the last round.

still got the 7 lapper yet to run....

I have not received any times as yet.........I'm leaving for Sydney tomorrow & come back Saturday evening......if I don't get any times in by then...we will terminate the series!

I'll have my times in by Friday night!

johnny shell
19th July 2008, 06:29
happy with my 2nd race, ran pretty conistant - until my tires went off a bit at the end 'cause they were too soft.

the first race could have been about 3 seconds quicker though. my 2nd lap was 3 secs off my 3rd and there's no excuse for that - couldn't get a perfect race in though.

this course is just too tricky!

real_illusions
19th July 2008, 17:08
Im afraid im going to have to pull out of this one...around Donington Im about 5-6 seconds a lap slower than Johnny. Theres just no competition in it, nor any fun really lapping that much slower knowing your going to be last no matter what.

With normal handling on, im closer to the leaders, but with this, im no where.
