Mick Jones has now confirmed his son Stuart will contest Rally Bohemia Mick had mentioned this to the website but it wasn't confirmed and he now has this to say "We have just landed a deal from the organisers of Rally Bohemia to good to turn down and as such will be contesting this event on the 4th 5th july in the M.G super 2000." Mick is looking for any supporters interested in going over. If you read down the page you will see it mentioned which is why we never confirmed about the MG doing the event until a deal was done.

Here is some information. Rally Bohemia is held 3rd to 5th June 2008. First leg will be around Mladá Boleslav, second on the north close to Liberec. It is a little bit pitty that there is less northern stages this year as they are the best in Czech Republic.

I realise that this is very short notice but would anyone like to come with Stuart Jones and The MSD MG S2000 Team to the Bohemia Rally on July 3rd-5th? The team have only just today sorted a deal to go to Prague and compete on the Rally Bohemia which is based in Mlada Boleslav which is just 40 mins from Prague.. We can offer anyone interested, free accommodation for the 3 days of the rally. You would have to make your own way there but cheap flights are readily available. Once there you would be part of the team and if enough of you take up the offer you would be taken to stages and treated as guests.
The rally itself is also due to see the launch of Skoda's new S2000 car, which will run as course car. It will be a superb event being a long established round of the European Rally Championship with an excellent entry. Add that to Prague's famed nightlife and it should be a great weekend.

Bieltvedt are dominating the Subaru-Cup in Norway this season.

He is fast on gravel but he is not used to tarmac.....interesting to see what speed he is able to on tarmac.

Yes, Stuart never was to Czech republic but I don't think our tarmac is that much different to what he knows from England and Ireland. We have less jumps and more woods and trees around but in general the tarmac is similar type (bumpy, dirty, often narrow). Rally Bohemia is also the most technical rally in Czech republic (at least second leg) which gives S2000 cars good chance.

Of course most of local driver know the stages very well but Stuar has international experience so that I think he'll get into very quickly :)

They set a 5th fastest time on the event, which is not bad considering the 207, the Punto and the Polo have had more rallies and development under their belts as opposed to the MG

I thought the MG did remarkably well on it's European debut in Belgium over the weekend. As Mark stated, MSD designed and built the MG on a very small budget in comparison to what a manufacturer backed team like Peugeot or Fiat has spent on their Super 2000 cars.

The MG's engine is known to be down on top end power, and that showed on some of the stages with longer straights, but on the tight twisty stages the car was very fast - as some of the stage times showed. Mark also had very little experience of Ypres or his MG on tarmac in comparison to the majority of the other drivers. I think the team should be equally pleased and disappointed with their weekend.

The norwegian Sveinung Bieltvedt(Impreza) had a puncture after 1km on ss1 and had to change tyre.

Stig Skjærmoen in Peugeot 206 XS had an off on ss1 but they got help from a nice farmer but lost 20 minutes

Glenn Larsen in a Peugeot 306 have some electrical problems, the car is not going 100% and they dont find the problem.

The MG went really well for the first two stages of the day - 5th Overall on both of them taking Stuart / Andy up to 11th Overall after Stage 8. As Tom said above though, they have been slowed on the last two stages dropping over 4 seconds per kilometre to the leaders, instead of 1.5 seconds previously!

Right, I've just spoken to someone from the MG team, and the car didn't actually retire - contrary to earlier reports.

The MG was actually facing two further special stages before the car's power steering problems could be fixed in service, prior to tackling the last two stages of the rally. As they were facing 21 kms of stage mileage, plus the additional road mileage over the next 2.5 hours till service, the team made the conscious decision to take no further part in the rally and preserve the car and crew for another day.

If the car had the same problems yesterday, it would have had less of an effect due to the nature of the faster, less twistier stages.

My impressions from the best three foreign drivers (not including Slovak Gavlák).

Start Jones, MG: First day he was quite cautious in my opinion but first two stages of the second day he was doing realy nice times and his driving also looked nice. He seemed to be fast on shakedown in veeery wet conditions. The car itself looks nice and is working quite good. My doubts are about shock absorbers as I know how much troubles with Exe-Tc Michal Fiala (second car of the same team as Valoušek, in this rally driven by Sýkora) had with them. They changed in Reiger very soon.

Sveinung Bieltvedt: He had many troubles with puncture and the car but he wasn't bad. In the last stage he was going very spectacular way :)

Joakim Nyman: Very nice surprise to me! He was realy agressive and fast. After 1st leg he was only about 20 seconds behind top N3 runner Křížek who has much stronger but heavier Type-R and much experience. What a pitty of his gearbox failure. I was realy looking forward to him on every stage.
