Thanks Perra71. I can imagine the fun he's having.

His main goal in Sweden is to collect some point for the PWRC, and fight for the podium in the other events, so that in the end he can claim the crown!!!!!

Bruno Portela

We all hope that he can manage a WRC for the portuguese event, although it would be his first time in a WRC (he made a short test in a Focus last year), he sure could perform better than Matthew and the Munchis Fords.

"Today is um i'm not really happy i couldn't i'm a little bit scared and i couldn't and i'm fighting with my self, i don't have (the) flow/rhythm and there is something now. I'm certain to do some experience and i have to reset everything. The first one today (stage) was good, after i had a spin, i lost a few seconds, after that we did the last one, we had a puncture after 10k's and we kept (continued) a little bit easy."

-You must be a bit encouraged from yesterdays performance?

"It was nice, start a little slowly (today) but we are here, this is important!"

-He's 19th position right now.

Sorry Bruno. There can be only one with the crown and that is reserved for Sohlberg, Hänninen or Alen ;)

In November we will talk about that!!! .

Just wait and you will see him perform!!!! Let him go to tarmac and gravel / mud. In Portugal 2001 what a performance he made with a small Saxo, just ask Markko Martin, who was with me in SS Arganil 2, as Araujo went by.

This rally is quite difficult for Araujo. He began to drive on snow last weekend. Alen's tarmac experience is quite huge compared to Araujo's snow/ice experience.

But you are right, Alen is a future champion, Hanninen mayby, but Sohlberg ..... he already had his chance

Well, Kristian´s father Kari won the Arctic Rally in 1965 and took part also this year. His co-driver was Markku Alén´s former co-driver Ilkka Kivimäki!
So, things can happen.

something else, 2 years ago Marcus said he hated some stage on day 2, he lost around 10 seconds on Solberg by then.. Someone knows which stage that is?

It was not Torntorp despite that somebody said so. It was Vargasen. Marcus felt that 307 was impossible drive in those roads. Last year with the Focus he was again normal in that stage.

Who knows? You are right it would be against the regulations but in this business I know everything is possible.

Xsara never had any technical problem like others cars. Now the C4 is loking like in good shape and for all the season. I suspect something really with Loeb and Citroen.

I agree Loeb is the best driver and more intelligent than the rest. But the car?!

He gets beaten by Osteberg and Flodin and they dont have that big experience as slowson got and really not the great car as slowson has.
Also, first time ever Flodin is driving a wrc car.

Anyone know anything about what they talked about in the service park, someone said its the last year slowson will have this drive.

WRC2006
10th February 2007, 12:39
Exactly, I really doubt if all the tyres are the same for each team. Goodrich is Michelin under a different name..., but I'm a cynic!!!!!!!!

The tires can't be the same. Do you remember when one tire have been stolen in rally Japan 2005?! From the team Citroen if I am not mistaken.

But it was a big problem. Maybe someone here gonna say they was wondering about the copy of the tire by Pirelli. But I am not convinced totally about that. Maybe they were wondering about their secret to be revelated.

And the team can't get the same tires totally as the Michelin or another tire supply make the tires particularly according to the chassis and the weight of the car.

For example : Now the New Subaru 07 removed some 30 kgs on their new car to make it a bit light and fit with the new tires (Michelin). So do you tell me that Subaru is receiving the same tires like C4 or Focus? Don't think so.

Maybe in general all the tires are the same but each team will receive particular tires according to their car and test they did.

WRC2006
10th February 2007, 12:40

This is one disadvantage of the pairing system but then there's no chance of him scoring points. If he hadn't lost so much time in the ditch then it might have been a different story...

I'm sure Petter will be really going for it in Norway as he will want to win. He showed early on that he does have the pace but maybe needs to stop making mistakes...

But the rally is over now. Marcus will drive to the splits for the rest of the event, and has a big enough gap that he doesn't have to push 100% if he's not got the right tyres.

Well done Marcus. Now just keep it going for Norway and take it easy in Mexico and avoid retirements which is where it all went wrong last year.

This for the 1000 Lakes:
Until -67 no recce, the stages were secret, but practically the competitors knew the route, because we had to ask permission to close the roads, and the documents published by the authorities were not secret.
In the seventies route was published 2-3 weeks prior to the rally, but because there was a speed limit of 60 kph on the stages, the competitors wanted to start practising earlier. It was then called practising, not recce. The speed limit was controlled by radar traps. I was there often, but nobody was catched. The drivers followed our moves very keenly!

Great stage for Henning again, really showing what he is capable of on snow and ice! I think it is fantastic, especially when you take into consideration that he has tested the car on snow only 50 km! I'm impressed, and really looking forward to next weekend, where he will have an advantage of knowing some of the stages.

He still has a chance for a podium in Sweden, just one small mistake from especially Hirvonen, and he will be there!

Also very good from Østberg, I think, 9th now, just behind Carlsson in an "old" Subaru.

thank's Mauri, I have been talking to a few of the top guy's from that time about the practising, interesting methods some used, like instead of driving long stages many times, they spiltted the stage to shorter parts and after 10-15 runs they moved forward.

Lesson nr 1: never believe anything team managers say. If they don't outright lie, they aren't telling whole truth.

It would be wonderful if there weren't team orders in any sense but since this is marketing effort, teams will make sure that no points are squandered by their 2nd drivers. 1st drivers usually do whatever they please, team manager or no.

Wilson always avoiding going head to head with Wilks or Meeke.

Higgins wiped the floor with him in the British Championship Season, setting 134 fastest stage stages and Wilson about 3. Wilson is not a reflection of British Drivers, he is a reflection of todays pay culture.

He will be shaking at Wilks doing Norway next weekend. I am not saying Wilks will set the world alight, but I guess he could be in top 8, in an 2005 car, and wipes the floor with Matt.

The sorry thing appears to be, that the drive is not available to anyone else.

Well Tomi, I think it´s time for a story of 70´s moral in recce or practising. A dealer´s team sent a couple of mechanics with chain saws to cut a shortcut on a stage in a Finnish Championship rally. The trees were cut, but an other dealer´s team found it out, and sent a few very strong local men to make an blockage with those trees one kilometre from the start of the shortcut. The shortcutters had to reverse back.
I wonder if things like that happens anymore. If not, rallying has lost a lot!
