I'm curious, why on very many photos from GB and IRL there are copyrights on the centre of the shot??? In other countries there is no such "strange" habit.

Copyrighting your own photography is a fairly standard procedure when your working for yourself or on a small team from what I've seen, and not just in rallying photography.

But why so much in the Uk and Ireland? There are some great european sights with excellent photography and none of this, is there really a big market for selling rally photographs? Sites can disable right clicks if people want to protect their stuff with out messing the site for casual viewers

True enough. I suppose its just a completely safe guarded way for them. With the amount of protection needed on the internet these days, its seems to be the most solid way of protection from hacking and programmes to get around forbidden areas. Yes, the likes of us viewers have to deal with logos and distractions but you could always suggest alternatives to the photographers themselves if you really wanted.

Probably because they are fed up with people plastering their photos all over sites like bebo, myspace and facebook. Try searching for 'flickr picture stolen' (http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&q=flickr+picture+stolen&meta=)and you get cases like the one where Virgin Mobile (Oz) stole a picture (http://www.switched.com/2007/09/21/virgin-mobile-steals-teens-flickr-photo-for-ad/)to use in an advertising campaign.
