Hoping for another podium at this venue, but will need to stay on the straight and narrow or NOR (or someone else) will snatch it from us...
Beware of your teammate. :D

Beware of your teammate. :D
If he continues mistaking 5's for 3's, I fully agree
juha, you beat me to it!
Half way through the year, already?
Let's Rally...I hear my teammate has gone surfing, so it'll be out with the surfboards if it rains too much or sunscreen if it shines..

At least we know the stages (sort of!) so i'm hoping to be a bit more consistent this event! Changing the set ups I think - soften the suspension slightly play around with brake power and balance.

Bit of insomnia makes for some early AM rallying (and a restless toddler)
1:21.82 Bit loose
1:20.22
1:18.85 :D
1:20.33
1:19.77
Need a fiendish level of precision to get a low time on this stage-bump nothing, run over nothing, really clean lines....

Heh I dont like Greece stages, so i am not expecting good position and even points, so good luck to all ;)

You guys should seriusly try going super soft
I used -5 suspension and the car ignores all bumps, gravel hills, etc without suffering driavability
You're both on PS1, and so am I. This will translate for you...

My set up should have read -1 :D
I don't like it too soft as the thing doesn't turn the way I want it too. I may try -3 but i'd not go any softer. And I keep off the sand banks altogether!!

Unfortunately, I'll have to miss this one as I am leaving on vacation tonight. I was hoping to get the rally done by today but I didn't have enought spare time...this is a serious blast to my championship lead, but I am confident we can regain that. Good luck to you all on these tricky stages!

I have now finished the rally for Frozz Motors Europe. I'm very happy with the car, i have found new setups wich makes the car both easier and nicer to drive. I am very happy. I struggled made five rounds today, my goal was to get under 1.20.00 which i also did at least. My times:
R1: 1:22.82
R2: 1:22.78
R3. 1:20.87 (softer dampers, less sensetive steering)
R4. 1:20.53
R5. 1.19.47
The photo is me after the finish of the first round of the shakedown-stage. A lot of gravel on the road as you can see!
Cheers!

Reporter: you've completed the rally how'd you feel?
M.F: Yeah it was OK but bloody hard lots of twisty gravel roads made my arms sore and we made a couple of mistakes. :( The stages should have provided some good times but we're mailnly here to get Experience of the WRC and to make the Skoda Fabia more Competive
Reporter: so you expect a better turn in speed form the car later this season?
M.F: yeah hopefully we will have better times in the rallies to come seeing as we have 6 rallies under our belts the car hopefully hold out for the rest of the season as i love it
Reporter: thanks for your time talking to us

Homer has finished the Acropolis Rally 2008 :)
Reporter: "How was the event?"
Homer: "Hard...this place really takes a lot of concentration or it can really catch you out with the hairpins and the rocks. But still it was enjoyable!"
R: "Did the car feel good...you complained about set up issues in Sardinia?"
H: "Ha ha...yes some of that was my fault we wanted to try something a bit different and although the car felt very good we had to switch things for here as the roads are so rough. So we totally changed the brake power, the bias and also the suspension and the C4 felt a lot better."
R: "What are your expectations for the results?"
H: "Well with Marcel's unfortunate absence we have a perfect opportunity to close the gap in the championship and maybe put the pressure on. He was so good in Italy that we know we have to up our game to try and claw back some points. Also Suzuki have really come on and I suspect both Juha and Tannat will be quick again. So of course I think we have the pace to win the rally but a podium is our aim as always to get a good points haul."

Service Stop, Day 2:
Reporter: "Quite hot is it, Tannat?"
Tannat: "Yes, but this is expected this time of year at this location. As long as the car is cool I do not mind being hot."
Reporter; "How is the Suzuki performing?"
Tannat: "The car is doing well. No real issues in that regard. We had our setup in place at Sardinia."
Reporter: "And how about you?"
Tannat: "Our times are good, and we had a fantastic run on SS7. We are consisitent, and we are pushing. With Marcel Haenen away there are additonal points at stake for the ourself and the team."
Reporter: "Good show, Tannat. Best of luck on the remaining stages..."
Tannat: "Thank you."

J.Lindstroem has finished the rally!
I must say it was really a great experiance to drive here in greece, i love theese roads as they are some of the most challenging in the series. One of my favorite rallies thats for sure, and with Marcel on vacation im aiming for the top 5 without any doubts!
Like my manager at the Frozzy team said we are mostly here for experiance and to develope the Fabia. So far in the season i am pleased and a little bit suprised about the pace of the car, we have done some interesting times and with some developement i think we can be right up there next year.
Cheers, Joel

A good rally for us-many good times ad a few PBs.
Judging from the comments it looks like everyone is fond of these stages...
Steve was quick here in the CMR2 BRC, so I think that leaves one podium spot up for grabs, we're hopeful, but with the midfield so strong it is difficult to be optimistic.
Best of luck to all....

Who knows what the result will be...we went well but also I saw the times in BRC and they looked very competitive. Can't wait to see the results on Friday...to give Kabouter time to do the event :)
Rally was little bit more complicated, then I expected. After great Fabia S2000 setup on BRC tarmac was hard to find the same good handling with Focus in Greece. Some good stages, some poor times, one big crash on SS4. So in the very equal field of drivers I can't estimate the result. We can be on the podium as well as on the tail of points...
We finished!
Day 1:
Hell what a day..I hadn't had my Red Bull by the time we were called up to the start of the RAlly, and it showed..Lost time everywhere, hitting trees, spins, short turnin at hairpins the lot! Even a full 360 at the first tunnel in the SS..Despite all of this, we posted some PB's on the way..
Day 2:
Much better today! Must have been the party last night with the mechanics. Hardly bent the car all day except for hitting the trees hard on stage 8 and staged a good comeback with a PB. Actually we posted PB's all day, fast Rally and we changed the suspension a bit and that may have helped.
Not the best Rally we've had, just fast, fun stuff!

I won't have time to do the stage-results tomorrow or on Thursday, so basically I'll extend the deadline to Thursday 23:59 GMT.
sorry(once again) for the inconvience
kabouter
4th June 2008, 21:24
This evening I first did shakedown:
1.21,66 (pretty good for a first run, practice is paying off)
1.21,59
1.19,47 (PB :D )
1.21,96
1.20,27
Those shakedown times gave confidence for the rally. :)
Although I was disappointed with some of my times, overall it was a very good rally for me, without major incidents, until the last couple of stages. On SS 7 of day two I went really wide for the first time in the event, losing 5 seconds getting back up the cliffside, and on the next stage I turned in too early in a corner, hitting a rock on the inside going wide again, losing another 3 seconds or so in what was otherwise an excellent stage. Now I have the feeling I managed to lose maybe one or two positions so near the end of the event, with the competition expected to be very close. Oh well, let's see if my effort was good enough to get more points for Curtans RallyBase Motorsport...
Magnus
5th June 2008, 06:33
Since Curtan himself can not rely solely on the incomes from his position in one of the worlds most glorious rally teams he has to skip a few rounds. Debate as aroused regarding this since there are rumours that Curtan just isn´t good enough anymore. When asked about the allegations Curtan denies that this should be the case. He also says that he is keen on returning at the sports highest level ASAP as soon as the boats are put in the sea and working...
curtan is for the moment aiming at a return for rally Finland and wishes the rest of the competitors the best of luck til then, and no further ;)
With excemption naturally for his team-mate, Kabouter!
Zes has finished the rally. Not very happy with my driving. I had an off in SS16 which took maybe 7 seconds and I even managed to roll my car in the last SSS. Luckily my car ended up on it's wheels, so I didn't lose more than few seconds. My times were quite identical in both days. Looks like I have reached my limits in Greece. Looking forward to the next event. Turkey roads should be more suitable for me and my 307.

Don't worry too much about your result. It's only your first rally with the 206 WRC after all. Curtans RallyBase Motorsport is a very relaxed team, you know :) Having fun is more important than results. Although, since I got that first point in the previous round, I'm setting my targets a little higher now than just making up the numbers...
Tannat, I'm not that quick on all stages yet, and my full rallies are too inconsistent to challenge for the podium or something like that. But after all my practice on these stages I sometimes can set competitive times here, and that's very encouraging.
By the way, Jso, is there something in the rules about teams entering three cars, what with Magnus's planned comeback for Finland and Scandi Navian Flick just having joined me in the second car? If we nominate two drivers to score team points say a week before the rally, can we then all three compete for Curtans RallyBase Motorsport (but of course with only the two nominated drivers able to score points for the team)?

Yes you can enter three or more cars with the same team but as you know only two will be able to score team points even if a non-nominated driver finishes ahead.
Jso1985 impressions after the rally
"A mixed feelings rally for us, we're happy we got a point but we still have that feeling of "only if we'd had been faster on day 1 we could have finished 7th". still we're optimistic with the improvements we've shown and we're confident we take the car into the points again in Turkey.
We would like also to congratulate our team-mate for the great win,"

NOR-let's please remain friends, mate..
Without the setup problems you encountered this would have been your podium.
Well-a solid third in the championship  but NOR has shown good pace on tarmac, as well as Juha; Steve is creeping up the board and only 6 points adrift..
Really need to keep up these performances if we hope to hold the positions at the end of the season. The final two rallies us those horrid UK stages- (YUKKKKK!!!)

Reporter: so the results have been published how do you feel?
Frozzy; yeah we came last overall but we got 5th fastest on stage 17 so we're hugely pleased with our results so we hope to improve for next rally.
Reporter: what are your aims for rally Turkey?
Frozzy: we hope to improve on our form and get a fastest stage time overall hopefully and then maybe a top 10finish at the end of the rally.

Actually i thought i whould be faster than this. But i suppose it's all up to me. Maybe i can find some more speed on the next rally. Allthough all this, we can see hints opf podium speed. In the first stage we had 3rd place and in stage 3 we had 2nd. So we just have to be consistant to be up there!
I'm pleased to see that my teammate Frozzy starts to get the pace up, fifth fastest on stage seven is very good!

Well very happy with the result....another win and leading the drivers standings so have to be happy with that. As suspected the Suzuki's were quick and ARB team seems it's going to challenge too. Nice to see 5 different stage winners  Looks as if SS15 was the critical one, we managed to pull a gap and then hold it till the end.
Turkey next....should be a good event for us so lets see what happens. Marcel will be out for victory of course after his absence so we're going to have to up our game!
