INDIANAPOLIS - The Edmonton Indy race is officially a go.

Northlands vice-president Mark Bamford signed a multi-year sanctioning agreement, believed to be three years, with Indy Racing League executive Terry Angstadt today prior to the start of the Indy 500.

The race organizers, Northlands and City of Edmonton will host a Wednesday news conference in the AgriCom to present details of the July 26 race.

Unfortunately they cannot drop races this year to add Cleve,RA, and LS.
Edmonton got in because it was a scheduled on what was an open IRL weekend

Nice to see the paperwork finally got through. I could see RA on the schedule next year, but Cleveland and Laguna Seca could be more troublesome. In Cleveland, they're try to redevelop Burke airport and Laguna is in the area more or less as Infineon.

Greaat news !!! Finally ... have been holding off buying tickets until it became official.

I went last year and was quite impressed with the whole event and facilities. I have been to every Vancouver race, Portland and Cleveland, as well as two USGP's (2005 & 2006).

You won't see Laguna because of the Mazda affiliation, but Cleveland and RA seem quite plausible. Expect Toronto, Cleveland, Edmonton, RA, Houston, and maybe Denver from the CC lineup, and obviously Long Beach.

Long beach is affiliated with Toyota. However, it won't be on the schedule for other reasons.

Long Beach is sponsored by the Toyota Dealerships of Southern California, not by Toyota itself.

The most important reason ist perhaps the great tradition of Long Beach.

Won't be on the schedule? Didn't LB just sign an extension through 2013?

Laguna won't be.

Yeah, you kinda phrased it poorly so most people are misreading it.
