well they may not be if the last paragraph of the post in this link is to be believed:

pickups on the rockingham oval are the closest thing (realistically) we've got to nascar by my reckoning.

Let's be really honest now, we haven't got ANYTHING like NASCAR in this country full stop.

Never had have.

Never will have, unless NASCAR come over and run it.

While the MSA interferes, the circuits are run the way they are, and the clubs operate at the whim's of the chums with their flying hats and goggles, we'll never see it.

It gets better. The only comparison you got with Nascar is they run on the oval.
