wonder if we'll see 227, probably another 3/4 MPH out there.

Marco just pulled out and retried. Gained one spot and was having trouble maintaining 225 so I looks like they are having trouble finding much more speed.
Mario thinks they have lost some mechanical grip and can't find where.

Track temps and the aero balance at each end due to wind direction seems to be the issue. Dixon might keep it....

Rahal out next, tracks clean...

He would have been had the team been ready.... Huge mistake not having a set of tires ready to go.

I was referring to his second atempt, not the time at the end.

... but not as much as a Kiwi on pole!

Great to see Ryan going so well - I think he is a real chance to win this. I like the way he's been working his way up quietly over the past week and then very nearly pounced on top spot.

Sorry, missed that.

In the whole broadcast I left the room for about 10 minutes and it just happened to be when Graham did his second run. I even watched DVR of the F1 qualifying during the one hour break.

I think that race is obviously very long and qualifying is not that important. But congratulations to Scott.
CARTDM15, IRL teams are not guilty that CCWS newcomers cant' find the right set-up. IMO 7 drivers capable of winning sounds pretty good.

How come i had a feeling that a Kiwi would point that out :p :

Rahal out next, tracks clean...

I know it is not worldshocking. But should Rahal's first attempt not have been credited with the "withdrawn" status in stead of "bumped".

That's not how it is semi-officially listed. Might be something to do with the timing of Mutoh's DQ.

Wow, just watched a recording of a qualifying on ESPN on ABC - with these cars drivers are able to take flat-out the whole lap, lap after lap! As i could see some teams had adjusted their downforce to be a little bit more than needed, as this is my explanation for the slower speeds approaching the corners. Of course it could depend also on drivers' abilities to take a corner with such a speed with a given downforce, or a tires issue, or a fuel. Nevertheless i'm impressed by the speeds - 230 mph in a turn 3 (that's 370 kph!) and a top Dixon's speed of 233 mph, pretty good.

Hoop-98
12th May 2008, 20:21
They have done this for about 30 years, adjust to flat, same at most other super spedways.

Yes, as a "former" CC fan I found the almost the whole day of flat out boring. But, I don't see that anyone has tipped their hat to Chip. Oval smoval. It was still gutsy to send out his P-3 car. With moves like that I might even come to like Chip in some small way.

And am I the first to make this comment: Way too much time for DK, but she did get P-5.

I might just watch the race!

To be honest, the real excitement doesn't happen until bump day. You will have things like last minute surprise deals with teams that already have their cars in the show.

Two goldfish are in in a two and 1/2 mile speedway covered by jet dryers and they are not worried about running out of water.
