Did I mention that Caroline doesn't actually exist? I just made her up to make myself feel loved :( I wish Mark hadn't deleted all the 0 post members! Because I'm reliably informed that I registered a lot of accounts when the whole Susy's pub vs Dave's pub thing was on :p Or so I'm told :erm:

She's appreciate it :D

I think you actually have to put a comment in with your rep for it to actually boost someone's rep.

Tbh I think rep is a good thing. If someone is constantly posting rubbish and being rude there is at least some kind of indicator and if someone is renowned for being helpful and friendly then their rep will reflect that as well :)

But seriously it'll hopefully be a way in which people who wouldn't ordinarily voice their opinions to have a say on what they think of someone's posts. Or at least that's how it seems to work on other forums :)

I think the rep thing could definately prove to be a good thing, if someone posts something a large number of people disagree with then instead of bombarding the mods with reports or complaints (unless necessary of course) we can just bash the rep button like theres no tomorrow!

That's how it usually works in other forums :)

Cheers. Not that it matters to me. But I think this could be a very positive thing for the forum. It's a positive thing for people to receive positive reinforcement for posting a good thread and I think it'll go a long way to helping to create an even better sense of community by encouraging people (myself included because I am a frequent offender) to be a big more neighbourly and play nice which can only be a good thing :)

Cheers for the rep Andy :) It shall be returned

But I have another question - and it's serious.

Are people going to expect rep back if they give it to you? Not that I'll be happy to wave it goodbye or anything, but am I expected to repay?

(Brockman get's nothing. Nothing, I tell you :p : )

If you see a post of someone's and agree with it you can. But there is no etiquette. I see it like giving a christmas present. You shouldn't give just to receive :)

AndySpeed
10th December 2006, 23:39
At the moment I believe a lot of members are giving rep just to get the ball rolling, and to receive. Give it a few months and I think that things will begin to slow down and rep become more 'relevant' or accurate to genuinely good content, so to speak.

Speedworx
