This Rd is going to be tough especially on restrictions! The guys on free choice tyres will have a big advantage on this windy course in qualifying. I have had one session & I was flat out qualifying pole on 110% custom. Best time so far is a 1m.33.37s.

Brown, Jon Brow
6th May 2008, 21:24
Had a quick session in the Ford and managed a 1:31.59. Didn't find the right balance with the car though.

Latest news: Belgian rally driver Juha was spotted today in Holland, near Zandvoort. Will we see him entering the V8 series?

"Absolutely not!"

Then why is there a Holden on the trailer?

"Sh/t. Oh wel, I'm just here to test the car. The idea was to visit my Dutch relatives in the area, and as Zandvoort isn't far, why not give it a go? I don't know yet if I'll enter the race, I don't have much time to race this month, my WRC plans are also costing loads of time, and I still need to learn the car. It's a brand new one, it has only done a 3-lap shakedown session at Barbagello before it was shipped to Europe. The setup will cause troubles as I don't even have one."

Qualifying Update:

1.J.Brown.......1m.31.59
2.J SHell.........1m.31.61
3.wilson_fan..1m.33.37
4.Juha............1m.35.24

I've set a series of laps in the 1.35 area, but can't seem to go much faster. Any setup or (even more important) driving tips?

Will In Holden V8 Promo Run

Today young British rally driver Will was spotted driving an Australian V8 Holden Commodore at the Zandvoort Race Circuit.

"Yeah, I've decided to have a go, it's been a long time since we were out on the circuits. Feel very rusty."

Yeah I've done a time, and will do the races too.

Juha
11th May 2008, 23:30
My times are in. I've lost a few seconds at the start by exchanging door mirrors with Ambrose in race 1 and Kelly in race 2, resulting in some very sideways driving in the first 3 corners. I tried to keep my pace up but but I think I was too cautious.

johnny shell
12th May 2008, 19:11
gosh I wish I would have had the time to find another 1/10th of a second or so.... just to beat JB... for old time's sake!

nice to have you back!

should be some close racing!!!!

Not done my races yet. :s

Brown, Jon Brow
13th May 2008, 20:11
Just done the races and I don't think they went as well as qualifying did.

In the first race I couldn't get heat into the tyres, it was like driving on ice, the wheels just wanted to spin up. The second race wasn't any better. I didn't like the balance on harder tyres and I was fighting the car the whole race. I couldn't really push like I did in qualifying.

johnny shell
13th May 2008, 21:06
yeah, these cars handle a lot worse in the races, especially on the first lap and through the first few turns.

Peter Vuko
14th May 2008, 13:09
You guys reckon you couldn't get your tyres to grip........try having to race on 50% hard tyres for the 3 lapper.....the first two laps you had to really nurse the car...only on the final lap could I really drive it harder...looks like it could be a close Race 1.....I haven't done my 7 lapper yet but I reckon I will have a better chance in the longer race...my tyres will be better suited...times are due in Friday night.

Brown, Jon Brow
14th May 2008, 13:18
I used 50% tyres in the 7 lapper so most of my qualifying advantage would have been lost.

Peter Vuko
15th May 2008, 12:45
Times are due Friday night guys...so far I have times from: J.B...wilson_fan..Juha..& myself...if you need an extension please tell me...lets get all the guys who qualified getting times in....I can tell you that it is going to be very close!!

johnny shell
15th May 2008, 15:31
I should be able to run my races tonight, but my home internet is down so I won't be able to send the times in until the morning... which is of course the night your time... should be there by about 9 if the time difference is what I think it is.

Barge them off in turn 1, problem solved. :p

UKOG~Will
15th May 2008, 20:57
tried it LOL

Juha
15th May 2008, 21:17
Experience has taught me that it's best not to do it in any gear above 2nd, and not by T-boning them but by pushing them gently, if you have plans to complete all 7 laps. :D

Brown, Jon Brow
15th May 2008, 21:24
I didn't have any trouble with the A.I on the 3 lap race, but in the 7 lapper I started on the left side of the grid and lost two places in the first corner. I think you lose more time if you try to barge them out of the way, so I just kept patient and eventually found myself back in the lead after a few laps.

Juha
15th May 2008, 21:27
My problem is that I can't get the car off the line without losing two places, so I regularly have to squeeze past those guys in that way.

Peter Vuko
16th May 2008, 08:49
Should be a good roll up this Rd.....I won't be looking at all the times until late Saturday...I'll try to put up results Saturday night...still no Piotr B...very unlike Piotr not to show up.....I was very happy with both my races...no mistakes in either..was able to keep it clean & fast...esp in the second race with the tyres getting better temperature...the first race I had to as I said before nurse the car to avoid unwanted spin.

johnny shell
16th May 2008, 12:28
I loose places at the start too. the best I could do coming out of the first turn was 2nd or 3rd... a little nudging does help!

pretty happy with the 3 lapper... in the 7 lapper I could have done a few seconds better - had a couple laps that were below potential.

best thing I learned was how to make it through those high speed turns along the back of the circuit... had to lift off early, let the weight transfer to the front before the apex, then get back on the gas a little.

I was trying to go into those too fast and the back end was getting loose on the exit. that sucked!

I think piotrb has probably been playing the new GRID demo. and maybe he's not to keen on potentially finishing so far down in these races????

wow... what a race... knew this might be my best chance ever for a victory in the V8s..... kinda dissapointing to loose that first race by so little, but I gave it all I had. didn't even have a beer before the race!

fun battling with JB again. couldn't ask for more than splitting the races with him :)

hope you're back for the next round too man!

especially since my new arch-rival Real Ill has fallen off the pace so much :D

nice run again for Wilson Fan too, eh?

We had a good battle in both races. But that nudge you gave me on one of the fast right hand sweepers at the back of the circuit really cost me! :p

Next time I'm going to focus more on a race set-up so I can really push in the races.

Really happy with that win...especially Race 1...I knew I would be a big chance in the second race with the extra laps, but I wasn't that confident about the first one....where do you guys prefer to go for the next Rd...Aussie track or International?

hey? did I spell Zandvoort correctly for the first time?????

I'm getting sick of the sight of Vuko's rear end!!!!seriously, good wins Vuko. How about taking me off the restricton list next round? I also wouldn't mind a tighter circuit. I think the real V8's are going to Sandown next.

He didn't mean that Peter. He just said that in a mad fit of emotion.

Can't you tell by his over-excited, irrational behavior?

I mean look at all those exclamation points at the end of his first sentence!!!!!

Hello guys ! I'm back :) ! I have PS3 from a week and I playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (also online). I lost my motivation to play TRD3 because Codies closed Hall of Fame. I'll try to participate in this championship but regularly. After the 12 June I'll be completely focused on Metal Gear Solid 4 because I'm a huge MG & MGS Fan. Hopefully when Race Driver GRID will arrive we can organise another offline championship.

Good Luck in races guys !!
