...should he be allowed to claim the prize of the Renault F1 test drive owing to his existing contractual ties to 3 other F1 teams, BMW Sauber F1 Team, Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Will Renault even let him if he does win?

Reason I wonder is because Anthony Davidson won the McLaren Autosport Award in 2000 but then wasnt allowed to claim his prize of an F1 test in a McLaren Mercedes (I think the only such case in the history of the McLaren Autosport Award) because he had since been named as an official BAR Honda F1 Test Driver.

Will be interesting to see what happens if he does win

What wont, Mallen?

Wont win the title or wont get the F1 prize if he does win?

Won't get in the Renault F1 methinks - BMW will keep him nice and sheltered from such satanic influences.

Not guaranteed that he will win the title either, though.

Kubica won the same series in 2005 and didn't get into Renault.

In case of being successful, most possibly Vettel might join STR for 2008.

not gonna happen if he wins, didn't happen for Kubica, I think the prize is only for drivers that are not attached to other F1 team

jso1985......it DID happen for Kubica!!!

He wasnt signed by BMW at that point and it was on the back of that successful Renault test that BMW did sign him

a prize is a prize and i think he should be allowed to regardless. But at the end of the day it sadly won't happen

If Vettel wins the title Heidfeld can kiss his job goodbye. Even if Vettel doesn't win the title Heidfeld can proably kiss his job goodbye.

There is always the chance that the driver is not interested in cashing in an "f1 test" prize.

A few F1 teams give those sort of tests as prizes. BMW gives a test to the FBMW winner and Honda gave a test to the IRL champion

These tests are more of a publicity event than an actual racing skill evaluation and most likely nothing will come out of them. A driver like Vettel that has connections with F1 teams has nothing to gain from such a test
