There is a poll in Forum Feedback.
VOTE & speak your mind if you want.

I will say it here, it can go.....and I voted too...

I guess I just don't understand the purpose. We can't have avatars, because some people might abuse them. So we get a reputation points system, which clearly, some people are abusing.

And whether they abuse it or not, what is it supposed to tell us?

I'd rather have an avatar of my car or favorite racing driver/team. If someone puts up a nude porn star, a bouncing boobs .gif or something really offensive, ban them... simple as that. But I've yet to be on a board where a rep system works or makes any sense.

I think it's juvenile.

I have to agree about the avatars, it would be nice to have them.
You would think a small icon wouldn't cause a problem but they aren't acceptable. :s
(100x150 or 75x200 or 50x300 or 37.5x400 = 156.25kb, quite small really)

If you look up top, there is over 400 available between the username & the join date, etc.
A perfect place for a 37.5 (or 25)x400 avatar.

So far the vote is going neck & neck.

I voted for keeping it but I won't cry if it goes away. :D
I have gotten so many anonymous insults I feel I must have be doing something right. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/gr8link/orn/00.gif

I can give you an anonymous insult, but it wouldn't be very anonymous anymore :mark: :p :

This is the first I’ve heard of the poll and will go over there and vote.

I didn’t know what rep was at first and I really never paid attention to it after that other than the neat cliches related to my rep.

But after reading some comments I got...I realized it became a way for immature people on this board to make immature comments about you if they don’t like your post versus having any constructive criticism if they disagree with you. That being said, even people that disagree with your opinion can and will be reduced to immature children and use this rep against you.

Even if it remains, I’ll ignore the childish remarks because I’ll consider the source.

50x400 will fit perfectly between the username & the join date. :D

An avatar tells me more about a person than whether or not some whizzed off poster likes him.

I like that idea. ^^^

I've got some pics of an ex-girlfriend that she's probably still worried about. If I ever put them in my avatar, the mods can (finally) take me out. "Seven years and we FINALLY got the SOB!" :p

Avatars! Avatars! Avatars! :s mokin:

Rep is kind of pointless...I've used it, but truly if anyone sticks around long enough to make an impression on the forums, it's redundant...

Avatars and Signatures on the other hand should be allowed. They are entertaining, liven up forums, and allow for a bit of personal creativity when done right.

If the forums are moderated properly it should not be a problem.

Most other Forums have a category for how many posts you have made i.e Rookie. The REP is not used by many others, it has very little significance.

It's stupid to compare rep with avatars.
You can see someone's rep only if you click on a link, avatars would be hee without anyone inviting them. And 150kB is quite a bit. 20 posts per page = possibly 20 different avatars = 20*150=3000kB which is roughly 3MB which is quite a lot.

To some it may seem stupid to compare rep with avatars.
The point is that an avatar adds some individuality to the person's post.
Whereas rep is merely another's opinion of a poster.
Rep doesn't represent a true measure of a poster's worth.
Rep measures popularity and/or entertainment value.
I would volunteer to make avatars for people but I don't think they are going to happen. :s

We aren't going to get what we want, we will only get what we are allowed to have.
Our opinions don't mean anything regarding forum procedures, we aren't given any choices. :s

I've never been to MySpace - yep, I'm the ONLY one! :p

Plus she's married now and we're still pals, so I wouldn't do that to her. Just some wacky shots... me with a new camera and her full of tequilla, crawling around on the hood of her car. No Vivid Video stuff. Sorry. :D

I know we're not going to get avatars. They've been shot down so many times. But I'd still like to know what rep points are supposed to tell us.

Jag, in theory you would get points for making good points in arguments, but with all the silly people around here with agenda's, you can have complete boobs in the top 20 in points and good natured good guys with great posts in the bottom 20. I have come to the conclusion the only people using the points system at all usually just dislike someone, or like to give their buddies a little too much love....and a lot of people rest in the middle...

Not sure what it all means....but there you go. I decided I didn't like it when I saw how I went from the WORST point total to in the top 30 in less than a week and a half.
