Hello
I'm going from Sweden to spectate this event for the first time and I have a few questions that I hope someone can give me an answer on.
Is it possible to drive through the stages before the event or are they closed for public traffic?
On the spectator map there are only a few places marked for spectators, is it forbidden to stand on other places?
Any tip of good spectating points is helpful, I bought some maps from OS over the area so if You can give me an mapreference I would be very glad.

Firstly, sorry I cannot answer your questions because I've never been before, but would love to know the answers as well as I'm planning to go next time.

This could now be the official thread for this rally if you want, including views, results and pictures.

I'm looking forward to it!

Hej, - there is not a legal way of driving the stages before the rally. In UK, unlike Sweden and Finland the gravel roads used for stages are not public roads, they are the roads owned by the forestry owner. These roads are behind locked gates so that you can not drive them, however, in the buildup to the rally the gates are open to allow access to marshalls etc. and those that mark to roads with stage direction arrows........if you know what I mean.

Tjabo - As a spectator, many of the Kielder forest roads used by the rally are a long way from the public roads, and access routes are usually gated and locked - however there are a couple of places where the stage is close to the public road and it is possible to park sensibly (roads are narrow and mustn't be obstructed) and walk in to the stage.

The spectator points on this rally are usually well designed and not restrictive - plenty of room to watch from these locations - but if you want to walk further into the forest to spectate, then you can do so as long as you're sensible.

Forgot to say - make sure you get to the stages for the Historic rally that is running ahead of the international - this will be the highlight of your weekend! :)

No - no superspecial.

4 stages in Kershope area Friday night, three in Kielder on Saturday, then a second run through the 4 Kershope stages, then the three Kielder ones repeated.

Historics do the first 7 stages, National rally the second 7 - plus the internationals and landies do all 14.

Thanks a lot for the information!
Now I better understand how it's working.
Actually the main reason for the trip is to watch the Historic/Classic rally.
Sorry to say but there are not many of these fabulous Escort's left in Sweden so it will be fun to see and hear them.
Btw is there anyone who have any info about where the shakedown/testing will be held on Thursday?

Shakedown is in exactly the same place as last year - A69 to Haltwhistle, B6318 and then a small side road into Kielder

After two stages it is Wilks who is leading, Hanninen at 12"1, David Higgins at 18"2, Morrow at 26"6, Flodin at 27"8, Marc Higgins at 30"3 (but had a 20sec penaltie, so normally he was second) and Jones (with 2nd MG S2000) at 47"8. Looks like the MG S2000 is going well in the hands of Marc Higgins. :D

At the end of the first day (after 4 stages) it is Wilks in the lead, Hanninen at 24"0, Mark Higgins at 44"4, David Higgins at 1'07"5 and Flodin at 1'23"0. Without his penaltie Higgins was fighting with Hanninen for second place, Wilks is probably to fast. Good result for MG S2000 though. :D :D :D

Hannine lost a lot of time on stage 7 to Higgins and they are now again a close contact...
