Crash.net confirms what was posted on BTC's site earlier in the week - Chris Stockton to drive one car, three drivers vying it out for the other.

well at least Pinkney and Marsh have confirmed this morning, another 2 cars to the grid- its looking really good!! Marsh better up his game this year otherwise it will just be a waste of good car for a rich gentlemen driver

I wonder if we should be expecting a new wacky livery from Pinkney or whether he is going to be sticking with the Alfa red.

well at least Pinkney and Marsh have confirmed this morning, another 2 cars to the grid- its looking really good!! Marsh better up his game this year otherwise it will just be a waste of good car for a rich gentlemen driver

To be fair, Richard has never been in a top tourer so we will see how he gets on. But i can't help thinking ur right - with two top cars like that, maybe you'd expect to have a couple of front-running drivers?

Maybe Alfa has supplied them with these cars for an evaluation on a future works/semi-works team? It seems unlikely and I reckon if Alfa did enter properly, they could easily be at the front.

I wonder if we should be expecting a new wacky livery from Pinkney or whether he is going to be sticking with the Alfa red.

Black with pink rims would actually look nice

I wonder if these are the two cars that Quest have been expecting to recieve then? Their website has said for ages that they hope to be on the grid with 2 n-technology machines.
I'm also feeling that these may be entered for the manufacturers championship. If you listen to the radio news on crash.net it says "and there may also be some independant entries........" - as though these ones aren't.
I also suppose that that would mean these cars would be red, but with Marsh's farcecla sponsorship and the rumours of AA backing for Pinkey, how about Yellow alfas- it has been done before after all:

http://www.stillphotography.co.uk/gallery/albums/album09/ETCC_324.jpg

Nothing to do with Quest Racing. Gary Ayles is no longer involved with them.

If you listen to the radio news on crash.net it says "and there may also be some independant entries........" - as though these ones aren't.

That will refer to the fact that, while all Alfa Romeos are independent, any other entries aren't 'sanctioned' by Alfa Romeo - as was the case with Quest and Mark Smith last season.

I could imagine Alfa may well be interested in entering the manufacturers championship. But the whole manufacturer/independent thing is a bit of a grey area, I'll try and explain this as best I can!!

If Alfa did enter, would that mean the drivers couldn't win the indie title? That's a more realistic target than the overall championship so it seems silly to take that opportunity away.

But like the Honda situation in 2004, they can choose which cars to nominate, even independents so would they remain as independents that Alfa could nominate?!

That's about as clear as mud, hope someone understands what i'm getting at!

Gary Ayles is involved - it says on Crash.net

Dave has to have pink on his car, like the porsche pink with painted on bullet holes. He is a character and we need blokes like him

Yay, Pinkney and Marsh confirmed :D .

im sure there will be some pink on it, the JSM alfa 147 he drove had flashes on pink on its bonnet instead of the red the other drivers had

Great news about Pinkney and Marsh in Alfas for this season. I would imagine by factory sanctioned they mean unlike Eoin Murray who had no spare parts last year for his car, Pinkney's team should have engines etc available as spares. They may get some help with data and set up as well.

great news about the Alfa's, finally confirming what we all knew, but the longer it went on the more i was worrying they might not make the grid, i hope that they can get the Alfa's to the sharp end a few times, it will be interesting to see how Marsh does in competitive machinery, there is no reason for the cars not to be contenders for the podiums at least in the right hands.

another rumour struck off and added to confirmed is always good, only a handful of confirmations to be made now, and who knows, maybe a surprise or 2 between now and Brands?

i think the reason Eoin had no spares was down to funds more than anything else, after all his car was a factory build which he won.

the factory sanctioned thing i'm a little unsure of, i assume it means its the only entry with new build machinery being used, rather than older, second hand or kit built cars which anyone can get hold of

7th March 2007, 21:39
A grid size that is healthily represented by S2000 machines. I did have concerns a few months back that there were going to be too many BTCC regulation cars racing this year. It would appear not.

Perhaps we can now look forward to 2007 being the last season of what have been 7 campaigns of confusing regulations and mixed classed racing.

Here's hoping for an all S2000 2008.

As has been said before, Marsh has never had a good car underneath him. The Varta Honda was nothing short of a joke and the Peugeot wasn't the quickest of cars when it first hit the track - but did the job last season of getting sponsors on board for a full programme this year.

So I think its only fair to give Richard a chance to get used to the Alfa Romeo this season and see how he performs in a proper car before knocking him down.

On the btcc site, Brands and Rockingham haven't been confirmed (despite the fact that the Rockingham track has already been decided). But the Oulton Park circuit has been confirmed on the site as the Island one. And having tested there these past weeks, i'd be very upset if they then change the calander for this TOCA package. ;)

27 entries and likely 26 cars on the grid for next year! Fantastic.

Good Surprises:
Eoin Murray - It'll be good to see him there on the gird
Adam Jones - Done okay last year and should be a consistent points challenger this year
Fiona Leggate, bio-ethanol & two MGs - Good to have Leggate back and in an MG as well.
3rd SEAT - surely only a part-time entry for perhaps later in the year when the championship gets tight?

Shocks:
Nick Leason - going to BTC Racing when he had confirmed the Daniels Motorsport Vauxhall Astra coupe.

Bad Surprises:
Xero Competition - after all the testing I would have thought they would be there. Hopefully they can sort something out before the season starts.

It seemed to be strongly inferred. The only other explanation I can think of was he was being deliberatly misleading, but I wouldn't have thought he would.

Hopefully he'll be on soon to explain the situation with Xero and why they haven't entered.

It has just been confirmed that you will NOT see Rob Collard in the BTCC this year!

He has joined Parker Racing to contest the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

which he was out testing at Snetterton on Thursday on the Porsche media/testing day

I had been a little bit concerned (despite his appearance on the entry) that this silence from Eoin Murray may have meant things weren't entirely confirmed. However after a Newsletter email from his and an article (http://www.eoinmurray.com/news.php?&id=52) on his website today with him confirming his sponsors for this year (arguscarhire.com and Reynolds Logistics) and saying how much he's looking forward to lining up on the grid at Brands Hatch, any fears I had are gone. Good luck, Eoin! :D

not sure why he didn't want to be there himself but his car was the one that Atech showed off ( as their cars were still in Italy at the time)

He has a tight tight budget.

Media day was obviously seen as an unneccessary expense.

Was probabily more worthwhile for him to lend his 156 to A-Tech, presumably at a charge to A-Tech!

At least if he starts the season and shows the kind of form he had last year, you would hope he might pick up a couple of sponsors along the way. Hope he has a good year, he's a future BTCC star for sure!

I don't think I saw this mentioned anywhere else, but Adam Jones will miss the first Thruxton round, Croft and Snetterton.

why is that? GT commitments or something? or has he got a lot of weddings to attend this year?

Clashes with WTCC where GR Asia have commitments

Why was this not announced at Media Day ???

Northern Monkey

It was in the teams press release that they would only be able to do the meetings where there was no clash - the focus has been more on the fact that the team will be there rather than they will have to miss a few races.

Shame Jones won't be able to do the whole year but I can understand that GR's priority is rightly the WTCC.

Didn't realise that, gutted!! But it's better than him not being there at all!

And I think that Tyreman2 will confirm, if he had not have a sponsor back out at the last moment, he would have put a deal together to do the whole championship!
But as you say let's hope Adam can do as many as possible!

OTOH, if he doesn't have a full season's worth of sponsorship money, perhaps these 3 meeting breaks gives him some breathing room? IE: It's works to his favour.

Adam is working on a deal to allow him to compete in the 3 rounds he is currently scheduled to miss after his highly successful debut for GR at Brands

You got all that from this... "maybe opinions might change and something could be arranged for those three meetings.”

It would be good to see Adam do the whole series. If something could be arranged!

I don't see the issue. Adam obviously hopes to do those extra 3 meetings, and I said Adam was hoping to do the extra 3 meetings!!

You said 'WORKING ON A DEAL' not 'HOPING' to strike a deal!

Is not the issue GR's commitments in the WTCC, rather than a lack of backing?

Alfa Fan

Same thing??? Your spliting hairs! If he is hoping to secure a deal, I'm sure "working on" descirbes it accuratly enough. I'm sure he's not just doing nothing and "hoping" a deal will come together from nothing. I'm sure he is "working on" a deal by chasing sponsors to secure sufficient budget!
