Not to take anything at all away from the great qualifying performances of the CC teams, but does anyone else think they might have some setup advantages they brought over from the DP01? I know they're very different chassis' but they probably have enough in common that some of the tweaks carry over and could even be an advantage over the IRL teams that aren't really geniuses when it comes to road races.

the dallara dampers are mounted under the car as a pull rod setup
the dp01 is on top with push rods.

the dp01 creates more grip via the undertray compared to wing created downforce on the dallara.

there is a lot of difference.

I would think that they just tell the drivers to go drive fast, ask them what is wrong, then fine tune with data. They do not have the trick A arms and other pieces that the irl teams may have, but they do have some helluva drivers!

In a word, NO! There is so much difference in the cars that the DP01 notebooks (which by the way have very LITTLE data points in them after only one year) are of no use at all.

I seriously doubt it, they are just good drivers and good teams. As far as the wing to underbody thing, there is no data to support that either way. The DP01 had to be widened to accomodate larger venturis because it missed it's overall downforce targets. It has been reported to be about 50/50 split from undertray to wings which is similar to past designs.

It is reported to have more overall downforce than the Lola/Dallara cars had/have, perhaps 10 pct. When people mention downforce numbers they are usually normalized to 200 MPH values.

One of the key things is controlling the ride height as that has a large effect on downforce.
