View Full Version : Jelley not set for Rockingham?
There's an issue because of Jelley being committed to racing GP2 Asia for next weekend, so his attendance at Rockingham is looking a bit wobbly.

I did notice there was a date clash, but I didn't expect him to dessert Team RAC in favour of GP2.
I guess he doesn't want to be pudding his reputation at risk.

I should think he can get out of the GP2 Asia deal; if I recall the team dropped him earlier in the season, so they shouldn't have any grounds to complain...
If we're in need of replacements, though, how about rallycross driver Chris Cake? Or perhaps the wonderfully-named World Series driver Bertrand Baguette? He's not strictly a dessert but knowing the British weather he could soon become an iced bun...

 Very clever!
I'm surprised that with these details seemingly known by both parties, especially Team RAC before they even signed him, that things could have got this stage with Jelley "a doubt" for Rockingham - surely Dick Bennetts or Jelley could have sorted this out some time ago.

I'm sure its all just a trifle to him
Yup, give him one series to focus on and he'll cream the opposition.

Dick Bennetts wants Stephen Jelley mould into a touring car driver.

I sure Jelley was in a bit of 'hot water' with GR Asia but I'm sure they can 'disolve' their contract and after a 'cooling off' period he can make a 'firm' arrangement and be the 'party' piece at Rockingham and everything will be 'sweet'. :D

I just wish he'd set his sights on one championship

It looks like a clear-cut case of Jelley wanting to have his cake and eat it...
Sorry! :)

Jelley signed the GP2 Asia contract before the BTCC one so if they don't let him go he will have to do the GP2 race (from touringcartimes)

It says that he's doing one race then flying back to the UK, which seems strange. Who would take his seat for the second race? I wonder what made ART release him. The persuasive talk of Dick Bennetts...?

Isn't this the final race of the GP2 Asia season? Maybe the team/Jelley aren't in contention for anything so they are realising him early? The champion has already been crowned

Yup, it's the final race weekend for GP2A. Jelley hasn't really been in contention for much in GP2 Asia - nil points so far (whereas his teammate has already wrapped up the title...) Maybe they've come to an agreement with the organisers or something.
