Any word on whether the boys at vxr will have been able to rebuild TOC's car after that smash at Brands? Now I'm no expert but that car looked in one hell of a bad way, just wondered if anyone had any idea if it could possibly be rebuilt or would vauxhall have a spare car on the go in case of this eventuality? Would be a shame if he had to miss out because he was going so well at Brands (possibly making WSR wonder why they let him go)

I can't see any reason why he wouldn't, I've seen smaller teams fix similar damage in the same timescale so it shouldn't be a problem for VX Racing.

Didn't Giovanardi have a very similar smash in the same place last year (or possibly 2006) and he was out for the next race.

He did, but didn't miss any races. Collard took him out at Brands (it was 2006) and he hit the wall near where TOC did. Mondello was the next race and Gio was definitely there because Collard took him out again!

I've taxed worse...

888 have fixed worse in a short timescale before. No problem for them.

He'll be in the spare while we repair his race car. That will be ready for Donington, and yes we have repaired worse.

Out of interest, do you think you could have repaired it in time if you hadn't had a spare to replace it?

I would of said dont most of the top team have spare cars anyway? So it doesn't matter to VXRacing. Other teams may have not been able to though.

The only other team I can think of that's likely to have a spare car is Seat. WSR certainly don't and Team Halfords don't either, although they did that incredible job of building up an entire new car after the Brands Shunt last year.

TD had a half built shell already for such an eventuality.
^^ as pointed out by (I think a 888 employee) they will be putting him in a spare car/shell

It was still an incredible job to build it up ready for Knockhill. They were still finishing it in their awning at the circuit when I arrived on the Friday.

In answer to Marc W's question, yes with a lot off burning the midnight oil.The spare is usually the first car built that does most of the testing while the race cars are built.
