its gonna have pointless drifting, something that should not belong in racing games, NFS already has that stupid thing covered

I also know there's no set-ups, and there's no pit stops.
the graphics looks good though :)
oh yeah, no DTM or V8 either. but, it does have LeMans.
and no pro-sim handling option.

Wait, so no pit stops in a 24 hour race :s
If they say so.

I've seen a video and lot of pics of the game and I can tell you that, I only like the graphics so it won't be added to my games-collection...

so basically the game has shiny pretty graphics but lacks any essence?(c'mon no pit stops or set-ups?)

Mmm, this game has provoked a lot of discussion on the Codemasters forum- they’ve done the same with TOCA what they did with the McRae game DIRT. Ijust don’t know why they don’t leave it as it was. What’s wrong with the DTM/V8 Supercars? Why do they have to ‘Arcade’ it? What’s going on with no pit-stops? Unbelievable, the excuses are that they want a ‘ Pure Racer’ – sorry but pit-stops and tactics are all part of racing. Well I won’t be buying this then.

I was waiting for a game that would justify purchasing a PS3...DiRT wasn't it and thought upgraded grpahics, longer races etc with DTM and V8s would be ideal then this happens.
The Pro-Sim thing is so-so, not the end of the world but the lack of decent championships and pit stops makes this just another Need for Speed clone, not a decent racing sim.
Anyone got the latest F1 game for the PS3? Is it any good/better than F106?

If it's 'all about the race', why is there drifting!??!
I will be getting this game, the graphics look brilliant, Le Mans and WTCC* cars.
*unofficial, do not carry real liveries apart from 1

whew, good news... if you crash or take a bad line through a corner on GRID, you'll be able to 'rewind' the race & try again from whatever point you want!

This article definately shows a BMW touring car, but the cars ahead of it don't look so familiar.
Of course, if you crash too badly, you'll always be able to take advantage of the game's flashback feature, which will let you rewind time and jump back into the driver's seat to try that crucial turn or pass attempt again. And..... REWINDING TIME??? Interesting, but definately alienating people who like sims. Mainstream gaming, anyone?

Played the demo
I like:
- Amazing damage modelling
- Sublime graphics
- 12 player online
- Sounds and menu music/graphics
I do not like:
- Drifting.
- No pitstops.
- No setups.
- No flags.
- No penalties.
- Non-simulation handling.

I've had the demo for a few days ......the graphics are excellent...the sounds brilliant....the racing is very exciting....handling is on the arcade side but very playable....replays are fantastic..damage very good..........so overall I like what I have tried but I would like to see pit stops & set ups in the game...presentation is a little tooo American for me!.............I've managed to beat the BMW in the time trial challenge..best time so far a 1m.17.34s.

if it has the best graphics, that alone wont be worth getting.I also found the last version on the ps2 dissapointing. The cars were not great in handling and I just plain did not like it.If what you all say is true, its all looks but no substance.

I've done a 1:15.x online I think. For sure I've done at least a 1:16.5.
yeah I gone for 1.15īs in online too with the PS3 version. Still I personally dont like to the game too much, its ok in online but there are still too many who just wants to crash you out at the 1st corner. The online still runs brilliantly, hardly any lag but the game keeps to freeze quite often (other players complain to it too, when it falls, you think that your PS is going to broke). If thats the WTCC cars, then how the GT cars will feel like or Formula classes??
I think its just too arcade for my liking. Its enjoyable but too arcade, thats personally what I dont never like too much in racing games. The sim or half sim is ok but when the corners are just flying and you can go to them with full gas,its not so cool and those replays!!! Why there cannot be a good old race cam? The replay tells that its not a racing game, its a street racing game (shaky cam, switching cameras, quick action, the music). I already miss the old ToCa!
Still if I find it intresting Ill buy it when its out but I really have to look a bit more where its going. I just cant believe what they have done!

typical Next gen racing game, amazing graphics but **** racing.
the drifting craze is still out their, I assumed after about 10 NFS drifting games, the people would get sick of that stupid version of they call racing.
if you aren't allowed to have anything for the race, why play it, it the default setup is a tight feel, I will hate the game, since I drive with it very loose.
After reading this I dont think I'll bother installing the demo I just downloaded... hmm.. well I suppose my 8 year old son might enjoy it.
No pro-sim? thats the biggest disapointment for me.. :( Codemasters dont have a clue, why dont they just keep all the game modes ala TRD3 and it will still apeal to all types of racers?
You hate it or love it,theres only 2 ways in this game... Its still worth of trying...

From the demo I though that the racing was actually quite good. The thing with the TOCA/Race Driver franchise is that it isn't an out and out simulator but just a racing game that is designed to be fun. Okay so if you brake too late you can sort it out in an unrealistic way but if I want to have something that is a bit more tricky then I'll play Forza.
And who cares if it has drifting in it? I'm more fed up with people bitching and moaning than having to do drift racing, change the record and then just don't buy the bloody game.

Loved the demo for this, downloaded it on my Xbox360, especially liked the touring car online racing. Then i naturally bought the game, and i have to say its very very dissapointing, codemasters had made some enjoyable games before this, but Grid is just too shiny for my liking, it looks good, and the graphics and such like, are very good, but after about an hour its very easy to find this new game very boring, its gone too main stream for me, it now resembles games like forza motorsport and that other one, i have never liked those kinds of games, and i cant stand the drifting rubbish or even the US mussle car garbish in this game. I have always preffered a proper raceing car sim, with a dedicated championship base, toca race driver 3 atleast had the V8's and DTM, this new one doesn't even have one of those.
It could and should have been much better.

Should have read this thread before i bought the game. Its a NFS clone!
Buying cars then doing them up, it just doesn't appeal.
Race Driver 3 was much better. Toca Touring Cars 2 was even better than that.

They have the rights to the f1 now though, don't they?
That should be much better.

Maybe, but i bet they go and ruin that with all the dodgy extra championships and back ups.
