The organisers do a good job of attracting top names to promote their rally. This will be nice for Marcus who is obviously missing the buzz of driving just a bit.

Maybe this is the answer when the WRC turns all-S2000, to run about 5 0-cars of top notch WRC machinery.

I wouldn't think there would be much point, IMO the S2000Turbos should be better to watch than the current WRCs anyway.

He has also done some testing with a Ford Fiesta RC car.

How do you work that out....S2000Turbos will be less powerful so how can they be better to watch?

ste898: Because WRC are going like on railways. Especialy on tarmac they are quite boring to watch.

To be honest the tarmac and snow ones are the only ones worth watching......
The gravel rallies are just like a repeat of the previous 1 except maybe 1000 lakes.
Dont get me wrong though at least with S2000 the drivers will have to work!!

Probably only slightly less powerful, but S2000s have less sophisticated transmission and are lighter weight so should look more nimble.

Can't be any worse than a Focus anyway.

What a tool.....

You mean the Focus that won the manufacturers championship the last 2 years and is leading the drivers and Manufacturers in 2008.....

Yes, exactly that car without any sound and looking like a hoowercraft when rallying. Unfortunately...

Winning doesnt mean a lot to me from an entertainment perspective, Id much rather watch something loud and spectacular even if it wasnt particlarly competative. But then we all like different aspects of the sport.

If only S2000 were allowed N/a 2.5's instead of turbos. :(

Bring back 1994 and the Subaru Impreza's and Toyota Celica ST205's. Those were noisy!!!

Winning doesnt mean a lot to me from an entertainment perspective...Really? I will remember to mention that to Ferrari, currently the top grossing Formula 1 team.

I understand your point but teams are here to compete and win.
Watching teams struggle and succeed is part of that entertainment.

Bring back 1994 and the Subaru Impreza's and Toyota Celica ST205's. Those were noisy!!!Damn straight! Bring back the basics and roots of the WRC.

That's the one.

You know, great rally car, good road car. But the WRCar sounds boring, looks boring and handles boring.

I agree totally with Mirek, it's fancy-ass suspension system means it looks like a hovercraft :( ZZZZzzzzzzz.

Unfortunately it is also the most common car on the stages this year.

Erm that makes no sense. What are the C4 and Impreza if not good comparisons?

I am so glad! Bosse will cross the finish-line ahead of Seb and there is nothing Seb can do about it. This will be the best rally of the year!

Obviously all the people who want to see cars that produce a spectacle when driven the fastest they can be. You should know this.

I will remember this quote when you slag off Loeb for winning and/or not being sideways enough.

Well, it depends what "winning" means. If it wins the championship, then I have an issue with that. It's only one C4 (occasionally 2) against many Fords.
I don't count Subaru at the moment.
If "wining" means winning rallies, then Ford is not the winner all the time.
Overall, Ford manages to stay on top because of financial injections and good drivers. The car is not an winner IMHO.

Daniel
8th April 2008, 15:44
It's a winner. It wins rallies. No one ever said it wins every rally

It can beat the competition. Therefore it's a winner. J-M Latvala is a winner. He's won a rally. So is Duval, Loeb, Rovanpera, Gronholm, Makkinen and so on.

I think the term you're searching for is "dominant" and the Focus certainly isn't dominant.
