View Full Version : Xero skipping Brands?

I've heard that Xero aren't going to make it to Brands anymore, some hold up with parts or something, and hence why we haven't heard an announcement.

I hope Xero Competition don't skip Brands Hatch. I want to see 29 cars streaming into Paddock Hill Bend and hopefully 29 exiting it on track and facing the right direction (the second part maybe asking a bit too much).

I think so.

if the car isn't on the money then skipping Brands is logical

i don't mean to sound rude, but i'm not entirely surprised, this isn't the fiorst time the team have promised a lot and not turned out. whilst i understand they aren't going to tell us they are struggling, i thought TDB's positive posting note seemed a little too good to be true.

i'm fully prepared to eat my words should they make it, and i genuinely do wish them the best in getting on the grid, but the "big" announcements never really happened and here we are a week from the 1st race, no confirmed entry, no confirmed drivers, no confirmed sponsors, no confirmed sight of the 2nd car and a lot of empty promises.

i hope that this is because the team are all far to busy putting the finishing touches to the cars and the deals to be best prepared for Brands, but i fear that his won't be the case. (not the lack of hard work, but the end result)

as for paddock, i'd quite like to see 29 cars exiting backwards, (all intact and able to continue obviously) and expect this is significantly more likely than all the right way round! ;)

well it's not Nick Adcock as one of the drivers...he's confirmed in the clio's but will miss Brands and Donnington.

confirmation on TCR's website.

If he's missing he clios at Brands, he may have some involvement with the team at Brands then?

Xero seem to be the new Clyde Valley Racing (as far as btcc goes that is!).
Shame as they seemed to be a quality outfit in GT's & Sportscars.

At least Xero have actually raced and actually have cars!

Do Not compare Xero with CVR, Xero for 1 have already raced in the BTCC before and not just made up stories about cars and racing as CVR seem to keep doing every year.

Xero are a quality outfit as you say, and a very Professional 1 at that and if they dont show then there will be a bloody good reason for it i can promise you, Though i really hope they do and before people keep jumping to conclusions lets wait and see if TDB gives us some more info.....

Come on boys prove these sceptics wrong......

I've not seen tdb round here too much in the past few days, can only assume he's rather busy working hard for the new season.

I have been a critic of Xero in the past with their previous promises which came to nothing, but I do hope they prove me wrong and turn up at the weekend.

I'm now 99% certain we won't be seeing Xero this year sadly.

I think the opposite ;)
They have the cars, the cars painted.
The testing done.
So what if they dont make Brands? I reckon they will be here.
Have faith :)

He has inside information! Must be a pal of tdb!

Be interested to know what inside info he has on Team 48!

He thinks he knows people, when in fact... he doesn't.

99% of his rubbish turns out to be just that...

To be fair to Alfa Fan he at least got Xero missing Brands right.

To be fair to Alfa Fan he at least got Xero missing Brands right.

I know a dozen people that could have told you that!

Just because Xero have missed Brands Hatch.. Don't write them off!
If they came out with an un-tested car and ran at the back of the field, people here would take the piss out of them for that too!

It's not my place to say.. but you may not see them at the next meeting either! BUT that is not Xero's doing!

Come on guys, cut them some slack! We all expect it from AlfaFan, but not some of you others!

Xero Competition are involved in FOUR different championships this year! Something has to take priorty...

It's quite funny reading these posts especially AlfaFan telling someone who works at Xero that they are not coming out to play!

I know who I would put my money on! And it aint AlfaFan!

Have a little faith!

i agree to an extent PDS, that turning out with a poorly prepared car would be counter productive - but to come on a public forum and update us with all the wonderful work carried out on making the lexus (that hasn't raced since 2006) competitive, stating that a deal is in place, drivers are signed and that they definately will be at Brands, only to go silent and not turn up is equally counter productive and leaves them with egg on their faces.

i'm all for them and admire the work it needs to take to even get to the grid, and do apprecitate the team coming here to give us information - but they have some work to do to repair their credibility, after promising and failing to deliver.

i'm sure something went wrong, and that we'll find out in due course, and also that its quite likely we'll see them later in the season, but i'll reserve judgement until i see it happen.

My sentiments entirely robinho, had they not come on this forum with all the promises it wouldn't have seemed so bad. Far better to remain quiet until DEFINATELY ready to go, then come out and surprise everyone. Had tdb come on and said that they "hoped to be out at brands etc" people would surely have been a lot kinder about the team (look at the support rick kerry gets on here) but by saying they would "definately be out" just makes the team seem like they don't know what they are doing, which is a shame because as i've said before they are a decent outfit in other series.

I agree, it's better they get their car sorted in testing but I really hope they race soon.

Firstly, neither "the Team" or myself, promised any of you anything!!!!!

Secondly, things I post on here are my personal opinions and observations Not Team Statements!

To provide you with information is my choice.

We had an ECU failure and this has prevented us testing the final parts of the car, everything else is still in place.

To be honest, I am not really bothered by the opinions of a few people who have NO idea of what really goes on.

so judge away, make all the uneducated assumptions you wish!

Enjoy!

From the confirmed thread

Let me assure you absolutely that Xero competition will be at Brands Racing lexus in the BTCC!

Don't get me wrong tdb, I'm not against you or Xero, but we went through this same process with you last year, you can't blame people being sceptical now..

I just have one question, Nick Adcock seems to have made an educated assumption, what do you make of his comments on his website

I really think we should cut Xero some slack here. Even if they had definitely confirmed (which I dont think they did) they could still have encountered circumstances betond their control. As an example, two weeks ago I confirmed a trip to America in the autumn with my band. It was definite. Today, I'm having to cancel because something has come up, outside of my control. Was I wrong to confirm or say it was definite? Of course not. But such is life.

Good luck to Xero I say. Thanks for replying, tdb. If people really had read your posts they would know that by your own admission you are working long hours and dont really have time to post. Working long hours so that you can compete in the BTCC I might add!

The only saying that you cant please all the people all of the time seems to apply here...

Thanks for the update. like i said i wish you all the best, but personal opinions or not, most people took what you said about definately being at Brands as a statement. i have nothing personally against you or the team and hope everything can be sorted in time for Rockingham.

perhaps, barring unforeseen events, everything is in place and you hope to definately be there? watch this space ;)

i for one appreciate you taking time to talk to fans of the sport and provide an insiders view, some will always seek to knock people, and i think in this case you maybe provided them with a little ammo, maybe you can knock them back again by getting out there soon.

its true most of us have very little idea what is actually going on, therefore what info that does come from a reputable source (ie. a team member) will be latched upon and form most of any assumptions made.

They're not going to be at Rockingham either, so that's 1/5 of the season missed already.

" I assure you Xero will be racing in the BTCC this year and from the first round! And you can quote me on that!!"

Just have........couldn't find any sign of the Xero Lexus on any of the Brands timing sheets..

"No. Team Air Cool are no more.
I beleive Mr Jones is looking elsewhere for a drive."

Oh, and on Mr Jones, there was this funny comment I found from the 25 January 2008!

Rusty mate. There is history between the two of them...

Alfa Fan has obviously not forgiven tdb for putting his nose out of joint a long time ago!

My problem is when tdb mocks or insults other teams/drivers efforts to participate in the series when Xero have hardly been the most successful of enterants. I wasn't aware of any history between myself and tdb?
