Good idea to make this the official thread for the Belgian championship.

Live results first round, East Belgian Rally: http://www.ris-timing.be/rallye/abr/2008/homeresu.htm

Kris Princen, the leader after SS3 in a Lancer Evo 8 Group A, rolled three times on SS4. No injuries.

Standings after SS7:
1 Freddy Loix (Peugeot 207 S2000 - S2000) 47'37"3
2 Patrick Snijers (Porsche 911 GT3 - GTP24) +45"3
3 Kurt Heckters (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 - A8) +1'20"1
4 Marc Duez (Porsche 911 GT3 - GTP24) +1'24"8
5 Chris Van Woensel (Nissan 350Z - GTP24) +1'28"4
6 Françis Lejeune (Porsche 911 GT3 - GTP24) +2'16"0
7 Steve Hendy (GB - Ford Focus WRC - A8) +2'40"1
8 Gilles Schammel (L - Renault Clio R3 - A7) +3'14"8
9 Bernard Servais (Renault Clio R3 - A7) +4'05"1
10 Erik Vleminckx (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 - N4) +4'06"0

As we all can see, the GT's are very promising so far. Especially when you know that this is a very technical rally.

10 Erik Vleminckx (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9- N4) +8'08"3

Bruno Blaise is as always very fast in his home rally. He is 12th with a Opel Corsa from 1992!

Most important retirements: Kris Princen (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 Group A, rolled on SS4), Andy Lefevere (BMW M3 E46, lost wheel on SS2) and Yannick Bodson (Audi S2 Quattro). Maybe some of them can use the SupeRally tomorrow...

This night and tomorrow, they expect rain. Let's see what the Porsches and the Nissan can do than.

The man deserves a medal for his spectacular driving. :D

Yannick Bodson (Audi S2 Quattro).
"Last year I had to retire because I'd forgotten my car's keys at home, it wasn't much better this year. This morning I felt the car constantly steering to the right. It was impossible to drive so we retired after three stages. Then we put the right tyres on the left, and the car steered to the left. Then we fitted four new ones and it went fine. I wonder what I'll do next year to eliminate myself." He didn't seem too bothered though, just kept on laughing with it. :D

16th March 2008, 10:30
We stood very near at the start of Ster, the stage where Princen rolled (only once, not 3x). Bodson was very late there allready, but we did see him passing to the start...

Heckters is going awesome today. He won first two stages and is very close to Snijers now. I enjoyed watching him driving yesterday, for me is he's the man of the rally!

Almost forgot, Bruno Blaise indeed deserves a medal for his spectacular passes!!! :D :D

What kind of Corsa is the one running in class M14 doing well ?

Why no update of SS17 since a long time already ??

HaCo
16th March 2008, 14:11
Because updates come very slow in belgium... :)

What you see now on SS17 are the historic cars. Between the start of the first historic car and the first modern car there is 20mins!! After the last historic car there are 2 zero cars...
Worth to mention: there were only 4 historic rally cars, one was out on the first stage and a second one was out at the the end of the first leg. IMO it was better to let them start next to the modern cars...

Princen and Heckters both drive an A8 Mitsu Evo 8. But, Loix couldn't match the speed of Princen in the first Leg. I think an S2000 is slightly to slow to match an A8 Mitsu...

Chris Princen had another crash on sunday, he restarted under superally and had another roll on the Rivage stage. He finished up on his roof in a fast flowing river. Luckely some spectators didn't hasitate to jump into the cold water and saved both Chris and his codriver from the river. Apparently they will decide coming sunday about their plans for the future.

Chris Princen and the Jetcar-team decided yesterday that they will go on with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 gr.A. He will not change between this car and the Renault Clio (wich he used last year), because the difference in driving style is to big between the two cars. So they will start in TAC-rally Tielt in two weeks time. ;)

There will be a superspecial stage on fridayevening at the "Citadelle de Namur", further 12 stages on saturday (3 x four same stages) and a further 10 stages on sunday. Here is a link to the official website of this rally:

This weelend's Rally de Wallonie ended with victory for Hubert Deferm in a Subaru Impreza WRC, second was Smelcher in a Porsche GT3 and third Romain in a Mitsu Evo 9 Gr. N. The rally lost a few of the leaders during the several stage's. After first day it was Snijers in the lead but he broke a transmission-axle on his Porsche. Then it was Van Woensel who took the lead in his Nissan GT but he broke the clutch and second place man Casier in his Polo S2000 broke some electricity off the fuel pump and also retired. So it was finally Deferm, who had an off in the beginning of the rally and lost about three minutes there, who took the victory. I can also mention that Princen in his Mitsu Evo 8 Gr.A broke the engine early in the rally, and Auquier in his Polo S2000 broke trhe differential at the start of stage 6, which was a pitty because he was doing quite well in his first outing with the RGRS Polo.

Casier had engine problems and didn't finish the rally, likewise for Snijers and Princen. The rally was won by Erik Wevers in a Focus WRC, second Deferm in a Subaru WRC, third Kleinjan in a Skoda Fabia WRC, Monnen in an Mitsu Evo 8 GrA, fifth Melissa Debackere in a Toyota Corolla WRC and sixt Raphael Auqier in the second RGRS Polo S2000.
