CMR2 BRC Pre-season shootout

CMR2 BRC Pre-season shootout - Sunday March 16th

This is a knock-out sprint race in the vein of the Race Of Champions.
The track used is the same superstage used in the first real round of the CMR2 BRC, namely the Pirelli International Rally (Greece SSS).

Competitors will go head-to-head, the one with the best time will progress, the slowest wont.

This rally will not count as points in the BRC, so this is only for fun, and also
a nice opportunity to show off that car you have been working on in the garage during the off-season.

All you have to do to compete is to do the SSS stage of Greece 5 times, submit those times to me (see timecard below), by PM or by e-mail (jokumlarsen@gmail.com) then I will match all times randomly, earning all a fair race!

Rules:
Deadline is thuesday 18th at 11.59 PM - no extentions will be given.
No Group B cars.
Practice is free, but once you start your 5 attempts, there is no starting over.
Depending on the amount of entries there might be more or less competitors making it trough as the head-to-head rounds progress.

Screenshots:
If this race successfull it will be featured in a coming issue of the CMR2 Rally Magazine, meaning that selective comments posted in this forum will end up in the magazine, and so will screenshots if you mail some to me (jokumlarsen@gmail.com) all screenshots must be at least 800x600 pixels and preferrably uncompressed.

I chose the Lancer for this series because I'm really not fond of it. My fears (or reservations) were confirmed when I did a few runs this AM. This car actually oversteers! We've got some setup work to do..

I downloaded the 2005-2007 Mod, then the Henning 307 + Mikkelsen Ford separately.
They replace the wrong car i.e. it still calls the 307 a Puma, but other than that it's great!

Puma is a very fast car, PS29.

I think that is a big no no.

Sorry to hear that. I think the 307 should be skinned on the 206 to stay rules appropriate. I'll ask jso1985 to jump in.

-For the BRC I use either a Pug 206 or Subaru.

So it doesn't really matter. I only use the Puma for fun and for testing setups etc. - so don't worry, I wont' suddenly start winning anything!!

I've now got two Henning Orange 307s - one as a Puma for fun, one as a Pug 206 for competitons. I get about 2 secs quicker per stage in the Puma!

I know in this particular case everything is clear now, but as a reminder to all competitors, any skin SHOULD be used on the designated car(see the rules) and not on any car even if it's another WRC one

the Puma is hard to control, but is fun to drive so it seems you go quicker!

Completed the 5 runs, SSS are not my favourite kind of stages but still it worked well to test some set-ups

Well, I'd love to do this one, If i can get the time. I've had a practice, and was loving it!

Only thing, as this is not part of the championship, as more of a PR stunt, RBR are going to let me drive one of their other rally cars for this event... (if all's ok with the rules).

At first we were really distressed with the Lancer's performance. we took a step back, drove a Focus for a few laps, made a drive ratio mod (+3 front) and found the secret to a fast lap: you MUST get brake, then acclerate around the high fence on the left. Gives you much more speed on that straight..


Positively astonished ouselves with the time-but it happened only once :D

Now I hope that randomization is on my side...

Red Bull Racing concerned for driver and car

The Red Bull Racing team have voiced their concern for their team's second driver and the quality of the parts of the BRC Toyota Corolla. The parts in question, which appear to have been part of a dodgy batch of rear suspension pins, featured one which was being used on the car when the accident occured.

As the car landed after a jump during practice, the weak pins in the rear of the car snapped, only causing minor damage, but making the landing very heavy, and causing minor back injuries for the driver of the car in question, Iain Johnson.

"It's quite painful driving, and moving in and out of the car, but sitting has been made more comfortable today by the team's efforts at cusioning the seat."

It was a very heavy impact, and Iain was in pain, but since then, we've had few troubles, and the car has performed well, and a new batch of pins has been ordered. All has gone well this afternoon, and hopefully the pain will not affect the pace!
