We won't forget about the IPS drivers as Raphael Matos topped the time charts this past Thursday by .03 seconds ahead of IPS veteran Bobby Wilson along with other fellow Americans Logan Gomez, Sean Guthrie, and Matt Lee in the top 5. Richard Antinucci - Eddie's nephew - finished the day in 7th. And the 2 female drivers Cyndie Alleman, and Ana Beatriz barely break the top 10.

Other notables:

Chris Festa - P11
Mike Potekhen - P15

I was thinking of Matos... If he would've accepted the $2M prize from Atlantics and moved to CC, he would probably be in IndyCar now. But on second thought...there was no $2M and what if no teams would accept him in IndyCar now. He really made a good decision, though.

I still think he'll be in an AGR car earlier than most people think. Matos is legit.

Why would Matos' domination of his first IPS outing come as a surprise? Just more evidence of Atlantic's role as a legitimate driver development series. To think the IPS deserves the same respect in 2008 is laughable.

To think the IPS deserves the same respect in 2008 is laughable.

In terms of proving himself on ovals (still the major proportion of IndyCar) then it's far superior to CCA. Winning on ovals shows you can be a good series driver, not just a good road course driver. I'd say dominance in each series has different merits, both of which are going to be important.
