I expect that from now on we will start to see the teams start to test their 2007 cars. Seat would be out soon I presume, although it sounds like halfords and rac may be a while before they turn out.
VXR are going to be testing next week- does anyone know where this will be?

VXR tend to do their winter testing in Spain (Jarama i believe)

are then any testing restictions at all, or is testing only restricted once the season has started?

Not sure. But testing in BTCC is easy to control due to the single tyre supplier.

Up until the Press day they can test anywhere.
After press day they can only test on BTCC race circuits on designated test days.
I believe there are no restrictions on testing at non-btcc race tracks for 2007, ie Pembury, Castle Coombe and now Silverstone!

Do you know whether its at Donington or Brands this year? Im guessing Brands with first meeting there. Hope its Donny though!

I reckon they should relax the testing rule for the start of this year as a lot of teams have new cars because of the rules etc.

Brands. I don't think they should relax any testing restrictions - so long as its equal then its OK. Maybe a couple of extra days for teams with new cars? I believe this was used in the BTCC several years ago, not sure if it still is.

tyreman2

after media day the teams are allowed 4 days testing during the rest of the season, but not at tracks they are still to race on

How come Eoin tested the Alfa at Snetterton then? Was it because he'd get to register?

I was told it's going to be at Brands again. If not then someone needs to tell all the teams, because some of them definately think its at Brands!

I'm guessing only teams that have actually entered have been told, which would explain why the one that told me didn't know!

I think I've got it all over the place, a FRenault driver asked me if I was going Snett in Marche. I don't really know what he was talking about though :p : It just clicked that he may of been talking about the media day or do the Renault boys have there media day at a seperate track? Do they even have a media day?

The support races have their own pre-season tests, at several different tracks.

Usually only Porsche has its own media day.

Lazy a!$e coudn't be bothered to get a hair cut before he had his photograph taken. What would his mother say - she'd be all over him wiping and sticking down his eyebrows with that old hankerchief from the bottom of her hand bag - "Now Thomas dear...."

He still looks about 12 years old as well. Hard to believe it's 5 years since we were saying things like "Tom who?!" and saying Barwell were taking a big risk putting a kid in a touring car.

Was just talking about this last night. We have no idea. Last time I saw him at a race meeting was when he was racing at Donington's final rounds in 2004. Either he's still living in Guildford, back home in Blairgowrie or he's disappeared off the face of the earth!

I can beat that - I saw him in the pit lane at Knockhill in 2005. I seem to think he may have been coaching a F Renault driver that weekend, but could be wrong.
