How about a classic NASCAR video thread?

Not necessarily old videos/races, but great/unbelievable moments-with discussion.

Here is a great one I just found for the first time tonight:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loXOLDYj5Tc&feature=related

The last 10 Laps of the 2007 Daytona 500, all onboard with Kevin Harvick. What a piece of driving this was. A couple of lucky moments, 1 when Kenseth nearly wrecks about halfway through, the others on the last lap as Harvick gets a huge run down the backstretch and 2 cars appear to have the ability to block and steal his run/win, but don't. Note both David Gilliland's(#38) and Kyle Busch's (#5) missed opportunities. Also, excellent coaching/spotting.

Kenseth made a great save after being hit by Harvick. :) ...Only to be wrecked later by the Shrub. :(

When racing was better and coverage was good.

I think it's kinda sad that most of the NASCAR videos on Youtube show crashes, while the IndyCar, Champ Car, F1, and sports car videos show actual racing.

What a load...

That -was- pure NASCAR "BS crap", AKA the wicker-bill on the roofs, etc. It was the first step in the procession towards the COT at Plate tracks.

Sure, it created unbelievable racing(personally, that's one of my favorite races of all time) but it can't be ignored that those wicker bill setups were very dangerous. Same setup was used the next year at Daytona when Earnhardt died, and Stewart ended up on his lid, etc...lots of "big ones" with that package.

I think it's safe to say that that aero package did not contribute to Earnhardt's death. And let's not for get that the 2001 spring race at Talladega was caution free.

I don't necessarily disagree, although there is no doubt that the wicker bills led to closer racing then we had seen before -or since- at the plate tracks.

Also, not a big surprise that the first plate race after Earnhardt's death went caution free, wouldn't you say?

In addition, this was run with the new "no passing below the yellow line" rule in place...that contributed to the relative tameness as well(at least untill the last lap anyways).
