Alright guys, time for the first round of the year, as suggested by many drivers, we're switching to 2 day rallyes(new timecard is also available to download), but we're still testing it, so we might switch back to 3 day rallyes in the future.

The rally will be run with the following format
Shakedown stage: Italy SS3(mirrored)
Day 1: Italy(Mirrored) Expert Level
Day 2: Sweden(Mirrored) WET TARMAC TYRES ONLY intermediate level
Rally starts on Saturday and deadline for submissions is on Tuesday 23rd 23:59 GMT

for more info go to: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/cmr2wc

have fun!

Looking forward to our first rally(e) in the Focus. I've driven it in Dravas' US championship and found it to be a good partner.

This is going to be a low stress year for us. After pushing to 4ht last year, we are simply having fun this year (and hopefully score points along the way).

Best of luck, gang

The timecard workes, I downloaded and testet it. But I saw one thing, there's one more stage than spots available in the timecard.

Shakedown doesn't count or something?

Rat

Shakedown is done before the Rally, naturally! So it doesn't count towards the total Rally distance.
Enjoy!

yep shakedown is just to compare how fast you are compared to the other drivers before the rally, it doesn't count towards the results and it isn't compulsory to do it, if you do it you post the results here

Felt great to get back in a rally car again, and we are embracing the challenge of adapting to a new team and new car..

2 57 97 Used analog stic (YUK) and steering to fast
2 55 28 Thumpad and slower steering, too slow actually
2 54 80 Rough run, but car feels good
2 52 15 Still a bit of push...
2 49 69  (new personal best)

On the final run we used +1 for steering and 0 setting for the torque split. Rather than having to handbrake the car like a fool to get it to turn in, it felt much more crisp, and just a slight bit of brake before the turn in worked just fab...

Hoping to net a top 5 result in our first rally for Ford. Wonder if that Subaru driver will try that stunt on the frozen lake stage as he did last year.. :p

My shakedown times were:
- 2:36,32

But I'm little worried about the second day in snow. I lost a lot there last year, it's one of the biggest challenges in whole season. Aproach has to be entirely different there ...

Did shakedown: 2:53,49, although this was my first run with the car since rally GB.
But day 2 is the biggest challenge of the season, have struggled there in the past years so I'm hoping I can find some grip during those stages

Shakedown finish for Dravas76:

3:05.12

Snow tyres wouldn't do much good in the real Monte as there is way more ice than snow.

But is'nt there a rule that you have to pick your tyres months before the event actually starts?

I remember some years ago in Sweden where there was almost no snow, so all of the teams got their studded tyres ripped apart by frozen gravel roads.

Hey,

I;ve just finished the rally, but I don't really recall to whom e-mail I should send my times. Can someone help me?

About the rally - not so good. I haven't played since the summer, so I expect I will find my form in the next couple of events. But it's still real fun, although I haven't done italy in mirror, so I sort of get lost in the last stage, but it's great fun, as I mentioned. I can't wain to see where I am standing, probably at the bottom half of the table.

Hey we finished in 1 piece?
Day 1:
Stages 1 to 4 were very WET! Trying to impress the new Team and with a new car, it's not advisable to bend anything, right? Can I get away with a couple of creased guards? Very nearly fell off the road near the end of stage 4. Stages 5 & 6 were dry but still very slippery! Stages 7 & 8, again wet and heavy fog everywhere, huge slides! Fun. Stage 10 was a difficult stage, wet and stormy.
Day 2:
Snow and wet tarmac tyres are not fun! Full throttle anywhere resulted in wheel spin and no go. Careful driving was the key to a good time. All day we slid and managed to plant ourselves into the river on stage 7!
Overall, I think we did ok, no real damage caused and the Team Boss is happy with us.

tannat
23rd January 2007, 15:56
Just compared day 1 times with the same stages from last year, and I am ashamed...

Never thought much about the difference amongst cars in this game, but I think I just learned a hard lesson. The Ford is much different than the Peugeot. Far quicker to chage direction, and I think that caught us out. Had a few offs, and many of the service crew have threatened to leave if wea aren't more careful with the car. REALLY should have recce'd for this one. Almost feels as if we are completely new to the game....

Day 2 ahead :(

Marcel Haenen finishes Monte

Day 1: we had to get used to the subu in these conditions. despite some minor errors the times were very encouriging. We were surprised with the overall grip level of the subu.

Day 2: This was a great day! We made some big slides, but had a lot of fun on these tyres in this kind of conditions. We approached the stages very cautious and were therefore able to set some very good times. The car behaved perfectly again!

I've also finished the rally, my first with Seat Sport. First day was very good, some good and competitive times were set. But, second day was not so good. Eventhough I was able to improve the times from 2006, I don't have a good feeling. I'm looking forward to Sweden&Norway rallies and would just like to finish the Monte with a solid podium finish.

I understand if it's a problem..

I apologize, gang. My daughter hasn't been sleeping well lately, and sometimes in order to complete a rally or race, I must do so in the wee hours while she sleeps on my chest (giving her a bottle right now as I'm typing), and I glance over in the dimly lit room and write down my times out of the corner of my eye.

Not an excuse for not having my act together, but there it is...

I miss the days when I could put son in bed, get the wife to go to sleep, and wail on the X Box or Playstation until the wee hours. But I love my little Emma to death.. :D

It is beacuse of me you lost your point drvas, so I will make this promise to you. Sometime this season when you and I both finish in the points and you are directly behind me I will incur a time penalty so that you finish higher than me (and thus gain a point, unless in the unlikely circumstance of me finishing first :D ).

Hi!

I suggest 2 day rally, because less distance, less differences between the pilots, so the champ can be more exciting. Monte result shows that too.

other thing:

could someone give me a good snow setup for manual gearbox. I think i'm going to try it, when i expeience some development.

could someone give me a good snow setup for manual gearbox. I think i'm going to try it, when i expeience some development.
I am still testing some different setups:
GB 0
SUSP -2
PR -1
BB -2
BP +2/+3
ST +5

or

GB 0
SUSP +2
PR -3
BB -2
BP +2/+3
ST +5

very different setups, I have the feeling the second one is faster, but the car is more understeered (because of the lower ride height) and therfore a mistake costs you some more time.

cyborg_hun
29th January 2007, 10:23
I’ve been trying many setups so far, but I learned only one thing :) So That’s what I ask for advice. The one thing is: I have never set up PB with same setup With same setup I can’t drive equal times, you have many chance to make mistakes I can win 1 second within 2-3 corner, but usually I lose it in the next 2-3 corner

My setups are very various too, but never tried to drive with setup like your 2nd:
BG 0
SUSP -4 - +4
PR -1 - +3
BB 0 - +2
BP - 4 – 0
ST +2 - +3

Maybe I should try to drive the rear wheels more, but your brake balance setups are also interesting

Marcel Haenen
29th January 2007, 10:51
I use the PR and BB to dial out the massive understeer you get on snow. The car should pull itselff around the corner when you step on the throttle. With the break balance set more to the rear I can set the car in a corner by touching the brakes creating some oversteer.

GrP
29th January 2007, 19:53
My setup for Sweden:

- gearbox: 0
- suspension: -2
- power.ratio: 0
- brake.balance: +2
- steering: +2

It's very hard to tell which setup is the best. It should be that one which enables you to drive consistently and smooth through each SS. I've even tried to put some more power to the rear. It feels very good in the corners, but I find car a little to nervous (front end is lighter because of that). But this setup just gives you a final details, you have to controll the car previous. Also with a default setup it is possible to go very fast.

Marcel Haenen
30th January 2007, 09:11
I used
GB 0
SUSP 0
PR -1
BB -1
BP +2
ST +5
and broke about all my records yesterday. But it is as GrP says: you first have to perfectly control the car before setup can make any difference here.
I am starting to learn these stages and therefore keep going faster. Setup is just for the final bit in confidence to tackle the stages on the limit.

Gearbox 0
Susp +2
Power Ratio 0
Brake Balance +2
Brake Power -2
Steering +2

I think this is the best for me (AT/Keyboard). Some stages requires to Power ratio -1, but rear wheel drive is very dangerous. It seems faster in hard corners, but it can cause big slidings, if you dont feel limits.
