Formula Atlantic will have a new sanctioning body, but Kevin Kalkohven and Gerald Forsythe will keep control of the Champ Car Atlantic Championship, now renamed Cooper Tires Presents The Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda.

The IRL reunification does not include the Atlantics, which Champ Car will retain as their own developmental series. A sanctioning body will be named soon, but a 12-race schedule will start at Long Beach.

Gonna have to be someone. Mazda is pretty tied up in the ALMS camp already, so IMSA would seem as good a place as any. Of course the can always screw it up and get it back under SCCA PRO.

I prefer a promotional series for Atlantics. The top 5 finishers for 2008 gets a GP2 test ride.

Time to spin this series off to its own development series forum?

KK and GF... I'm sure they'll find a way to screw that up or to sell it to the highest bidder too...
