Any more rain outs and those 5 teams that didn't make it are going to have a long season.

Nice to see Furniture Row and Front Row in again though.

Doesn't look like they will get the race in tonight. It's pouring there now on "10%" chance of rain. Goes to 80% after midnight, doesn't drop to 20% until 6pm tomorrow. Looks like NW & Cup will race on Monday.

Is it raining now or will the race go ahead ?

Its not raining right now, they are jet drying the track. However, there are still clouds in the area so you can't guarantee no more rain. They hope is that they will be on the track in an hour or two. After all, Jeffy has to finish in time to make it to one of the Oscar after parties.

Racing about to start.

There's another large cloud system to the NW it's over Pasadena now. When it gets to Fontana they will lose the track for the rest of the day.

Then again, it is California.

No more rain on the horizon. Nationwide race is tomorrow.

Rain is not on the map now, and they will try around 9 PM PT to restart the race. It could be a run to curfew (10 or 11 at most areas) since only 37 laps are necessary to make it official.

Well, good call on NASCAR...

They should have never tried to run the race. Instead, we got through a crummy 90 laps and screwed 5 people because of wrecks that should have never happened because the race should have been called.

Start from zero, let them use back-ups without penalty.

the race started 3 hours late because of heavy overnight and Sunday morning showers ...
and even then was delayed when Michael Waltrip's car began spewing oil during the parade lap ...
Denny Hamlin slid up the track in Turn 3 and slammed the outside wall on Lap 15, heavily damaging his car ...
on Lap 21, Casey Mears lost control coming out of Turn 2, spun back in front of traffic ...
was clipped by Dale Earnhardt Jr and then lifted & turned upside down by Sam Hornish Jr's car ...
Reed Sorenson was also collected & suffered damage in the incident ...

RAIN pelted the track after 87 laps causing the final red flag delaying the Sprint Cup race restart ...
they were unable to dry the track enough to continue the Sprint Cup race early MONDAY morning ...
so @ 2:00 am ET !!! http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/eek.gif (Monday morning) the officials were conceded the race restart had to be delayed ...

the Auto Club 500 (Sprint Cup Series Race 02) will resume Monday @ 1:00 pm ET on FOX ...

Jimmie Johnson currently leads, followed by Travis Kvapil, Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle & Kasey Kahne ...
Jeff Gordon, currently 6th, dominated much of the early going, led 5 times for 57 laps ...
41 of the 43 starters are still running, including Sorenson, Earnhardt & Hamlin, all several laps down ...

... the Nationwide Series Stater Bros 300 postponed from Saturday night is to follow ...

I know its against the rules, but NASCAR should have stopped the race at the Mears crash, started with a clean slate today, and allowed those who crashed because of track conditions to restart the race in a backup car, going to the tail end of course.

After the '2 day' race which was California Carl Edwards wins, the only two cars not to finish were Casey Mears and Sam Hornish after the crash from yesterday, and did not start the 'second part' of the race today.

Congrats on a strong result for Vickers and a solid finish for Dragon.

Top Rookie was Regan Smith in 31st.

What happened to Travis for him to get a damaged splitter, he was running real strong at the front with Jimmie for quite a while but ended up 36th 8 laps down?

Dragon -- I was thinking of a family of New England racers.

And something to think: Ford has won seven consecutive races after the Daytona 500. What is it about the Roush-Yates combination that seems to dominate, with six of those seven by Roush? Of course, it doesn't hurt that Roush has something Hendrick, DEI, and Childress haven't done in seven years -- win at the other D-oval, MIS.

This race needs to be called the Roush Invitational. Their cars are undefeated since this race went to February, just like their cars are undefeated at Homestead since it went to a night race.

I can't wait to see what the CoT does at Atlanta, Texas, and Lowe's Motor Speedway. These are the fastest tracks in NASCAR, and each with multiple racing grooves. Should be very interesting.

Does anyone know if Goodyear is bringing a proper tire to Charlotte, or the same one made of cement that they have brought since the levigation?

Here's why. 'PhotoPhil' the person who takes the photos apparently had to leave the Fontana on Sunday and so could not take any photos of the delayed Nationwide race on Monday.

Read the 'Why no California Photos' thread on thehotlap.com's forum for detials.
