Mazda committed to Atlantic Series regardless Mazda North American Operations is proud to support the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder, which includes four great Mazda specific series:

Cooper Tires Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda[/*:m:3jyn6ujc]

BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda[/*:m:3jyn6ujc]
SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup[/*:m:3jyn6ujc]Current rumors and speculation regarding the fate of open wheel racing remain just that, rumors and speculation. Regardless of the final outcome, Mazda is fully committed to all rungs of the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder, including our top rung, the Atlantic series. Mazda is working diligently with all series partners, promoters, tracks, and sanctioning bodies, to preserve full schedules for each of our potentially impacted series. Given the complexity of the situation, we cannot estimate when the schedules will be finalized, but it is our intention to maintain each series with the best interests of our fans, teams, drivers, and sponsors in mind. Pity they are not interested in picking up ChampCar. I love their grassroots support within Motor Racing and wish them well.

Well, seppefan, there probably another reason why Mazda didn't get into CC. As CC is heading to an end, the series that once we thought ready to compete with IRL and F1 was all a bunch of lies and sugar-coating. So to surprise us that Mazda or other sponsor on the sidepods of the car was all sugar-coat, try again. For 4 years of CC, it tought me how to sense a BS from a mile away.

I notice MAZDA is a partner to the ALMS series. Looks like Atlantic will become part of their programme apart from St.Pete and any other IRL race meetings plus a stand alone race or two in 2009 if not 2008.

MAZDA will develop the series to become a great feeder to GP2,A1GP,F1,IRL and sports cars. It will be the number one USA open wheel non oval champoionship. Long may it last.

Mazda is indeed a company to respect. I own a Mazda 6 and we will be adding a Mazda 3 to the driveway next month. Their commitment has spoken volumes. Please note that we won't be buying a Honda/Acura -- you can guess why.
