No more in F1...
No more in top US open wells series ...
No more in sport cars racing....

Will F.Atlantic be Cosworth's last refuge ?

Will F. Atlantic survive ?

I think Atlantics will make it. If not just think about all the gear that will be at the SCCA nationals this year :)

And cosworth has an IRL engine, don't they?

They had one badged with GM brand 3/4 years ago.

GM generation IV ... I guess.

This engine won races with Panther and Sam Hornish Jr/ Thomas Schekter

Cosworth has some options. They could go back into F1 for a new team or an existing one if the team's in-house unit doesn't do well. They still have Atlantics. They can also get back into AOWR at the next chassis change and be an option for Ford or someone else who might want to put their brand in if the series looks stable. And Cosworth can always get into sportscar racing in both Grand Am and ALMS and work with a manufacturer like Mazda (maybe they already do). And they still can work as a performance consultant for engineering in passenger cars. My bet is that Cosworth will survive.

one of the things that I am hearing may have been discussed in Japan was a way to get Cosworth a piece of the action, maybe an engine builder for honda.

I'm sure Penske will have something to say about that (Ilmor)...

Do not agree longer term. After a year or so the open wheel formula will be opened up to multiple chassis and engines, cosworth will be included.

Right now Honda is the closest thing to a manufacturer willing to touch AOWR with a 10 foot pole. I'm not sure if Cosworth has the rescources to be compeditive in F1. If they don't start building engines for Honda, their best bet would be LMP2 engines.

Here is the CART non-turbo motor Cosworth built.

I hate the normally aspirated engines, don't know why just do!!!

Hopefully Honda will agree to bring back there old Turbo's spec CART engines.

Cosworth will survive - they will probably build Indycar engines in the not-to-distant future...

As with all companies, they have gone through lean times before....
