from jayski's.com :
Petty will broadcast the races on TNT again in 2008 and will need a driver to run 5-6 races

I think Chad McCumbee will be running those races.

Yes, I think the only question is will TNT let him do in car commentary at Sonoma again. He really likes running road courses.

haha what a failure that was last year! Crashed on lap 1, and swore on national television to boot!

Needed a yellow sign in the back window "Caution race commentator on board"

Petty was great when he was in the booth. With his deep knowledge and the ability to construct a sentence (unlike some commentators), he had some very interesting points. Same with DJ.

I like his commentary. It time to hang up the racing suit.

I thought he was great in the booth. I'm looking forward to more of that. Now if we can get SPEED to replace Mouth Waltrip in the CTS booth we'll be home free.

Unless they get their act together the 45 car is going to be a go or go home car in a few weeks. As a huge Petty fan, this could be painful to watch. The only flip side is that it may give Kyle a chance to do more commentary or guest stints with ESPN and Fox/Speed.
