That times are correct, i was also at shakedown and had chrono with me. It was indeed Loix who was fastest on shake, together with Voullioz and then Kopecky. The sound of the Fabia is really awesome, and the handling looked really promising, as proved by the time's he was setting. ;)

I don't like there reasoning: they're not sure it's competitive in the DRM, and there something wrong with the DRM calendar.

For me looks like all the wheel arches and ventilation is purpose built. So can't imagine they are so unefficient aerodynamically

The counter-force from aerodynamics depends on drag coefficient multiplied by front area, the rest is same for all cars. In rallying speeds are not that huge to produce big aerodynamic resistance. Usualy worse drag coefficient is used for better aerodynamic thrust.

If Fabia has 2 square meters fron area, speed 175 km/h in dry air and drag coefficien 0,4, it has resistance of 1229 N, if opponent has drag coefficient 0,38 (big difference in fact), it has 1181 N. Difference is 48 N, that is like gravity of 5 kilograms...

Maybe opponents have less front area, that would make more difference. Fabia is higher but the cabin is also thinner. I can't say...

Aerodynamic resistance [N] = frontal area [m] * air density [kg/m3] * drag coefficient [1] * square of speed [m/s]

That was theory but the fact is that something ugly (I agree that especialy stock Fabia is ugly) needn't to be unefficient. It's not possible to judge by sight.

Nice! Althought the staged seemed quite bumpy and even in bad condition in some places... Also it seemed very technical maybe the wanted to test how the engine/torque responded at low revs?

Not sure how representitive that track was of Azores, although I guess some of the stages will be bumpy and twisty.

No problem for the Fabia however as I believe it's key advantages are in suspension and the spread of engine power/torque :)

The main reason of the test wasnt only Acores, but they were also trying durability of some parts and whole car. During last three days they made around 600 kms.

And Skoda made an error launching the RS with the black roof, it doesn't look right with the green and it should have been white roof, white wheels, green body like the S2000 car.

However I may still buy one :)
