True, but while the previous Rallies the leadership has changed 1st day, here at the beginning it was obvious Citroen was the better prepared car.

Basically it is like this every year in Finland...From the first stages you know who has the upper hand, unless the cars are close to equal...

I believe this page backs up your statement, if you look at the teams section on the right of the page!

When you think about it, Citroen are manufacturer champions, they are first in the manufacturer table and ford are second, so Citroen 1-2 and Ford 3-4, kind of go-figure!

I think it has to do with the nature of the event as well... in events where drivers care only about driving like finland and NZ for example and not avoiding stones and other problems you rarely see changes in the leaderboard because everyone gives their maximum from the start to finish and the fastest ones shine...

In events like acropolis for example where speed doesn't play an important role drivers tend to choose where to attack and where to be careful... so the places change a lot during the rally.

I dont think there's much difference in the cars. I find it curious how last year Hirvonnen was by far the fastest after his crash while Loeb was still being pressured by Ogier, and with the Fiesta.
The biggest difference is in the drivers. You can clearly see in the interviews with Latvala that he dosen't really feel motivated anymore, he knows that the "young crazy fast finn" cliché does not work anymore.

In some previous years Ouninpohja videos saw some jump length scoring, was this year such thing, who is the winner?

We did the shakedown/qualifying on thursday, 2 stages on thursday, 5 stages on friday (Urria and 2x Mokkipera - Lankamaa) and 5 stages on saturday (Surkee - Leustu - Surkee - 2x Ouninpohja). Thursday was rather calm, friday and saturday were quite crowded. It's nice to see how many people are interested in the rally and how the whole region is busy with it. The event itself is quite strict (on stage as parking as well), but with such an amount of people there is no choice if you want to avoid chaos and cancelled stages... No need to tell about the stages, we searched for faster corners and also found some corner/jump combinations, amazing to see how precise they can drive at such high speed... Thanks again to Juha_Koo and Hartusvuori!
This is what i like in people... the search for the good spot... taking risks by imagining the line and the speed of the drivers at that spot and when the result is like the pictures above the satisfaction is guaranteed... some times you lose of course but with experience you minimize the error.

I just hate going to an event and following the official guides blindly where you end up in boring places... I prefer not to go to an event than doing that.

Again great job with the pictures.

The metre marks were all set, but because of the obvious ongoing war between Vauhdin Maailma magazine and the rally organiser, they were removed. I don't know who's the winner.

Well at least they cleared the little creek. That is never fun to have to step out of the car and go splooosh up to your knees in stinky mud.
