The differences between the R5 cars are probably small, but DS3 sure seems like one of the slowest. It's also one of the oldest? It could also have something to do with the drivers but the last time a DS3 was better than third in WRC2 was Monte Carlo 2015.

Yes he no doubt said that, but wouldn't you say that after you've just been dumped by someone who you've had a partnership with since they were starting out? I think it was all pretty shabby by VW.

He actually said it different.
He already knew he would have left Mikkelsen the year later he left Andreas so he went to Ostberg leaving Mikkelsen one year earlier. He said that he thought to have more chance to win the championship with Ostberg in the next years than with Mikkelsen that (only) year.
