#36 BDR team shutting down?
Saw on Jayski's site that Jeremy Mayfield and the #36 crew could shut down if they didn't make Atlanta. They are still on the Bristol entry list however.
I solumly swear I'm up to no good

Did you read the whole item? The closing down rumor was from a radio show. There's also a contradiction from the Bill Davis Racing web site.

I don't see OTC 360 sticking with them too much longer if they don't start making races real soon. They're spending $20 million plus and getting nothing for their money.

What's your source on the $20mil OTC 360 figure? $20million's the ballpark number for the top teams, with a proven record: #24, 48, 20, 6, 17, 8, etc. With Toyota startup money and support, and considering how late the deal was announced, I think they probably took alot less. Maybe in the $6-10mil range. Mayfield's probably not getting big bucks (for Cup), with 5 wins in 14 years, that's not a consistant winner.

It looks like BDR has a clause where even if the sponsors leave, he is required to field two full time teams.

I realize you threw all this out for argument's sake, but the reason the #17 team has multiple primary sponsors (DeWalt, Carhartt, R&L Carriers, USG Sheetrock & Arby’s) is to try and keep up with the #8’s, #20’s, #24’s & #48’s of the world. So it’s unlikely DeWalt is coughing up anywhere near 20 million a year.

P.S. Arby's will be the primary for this weekend's cup race at Bristol for the #17.

Just a rumor...and that's what Jayski is known for.

Jeremy Mayfield qualified the #36 Toyota for his 1st race in 2007 @ Bristol.
360 OTC is still on the hood & Mayfield will start 23rd.
but the critics wonder ...
will Mayfield be the 1st caution ?
will Mayfield finish the race ?
if Mayfield finishes, will he be on the lead lap ?
is a top 10 even possible for Mayfield ?
These questions & more will be answered later this afternoon ...
