Correct. 'Arree was also the first to drive a rear-engined car in a WDC GP.

Wasn't it Ernst Klodwig with his Ruck-BMW the first to race a rear-engined car in a points-scoring GP ?

Sorry, Mihai, but no. Schell's very short participation at Monaco in 1950 was in a rear-engined Cooper T12 powered by a 1 litre JAP V2 motorcycle engine.

Klodwig's car, which ran in the 1952 German GP, was known as the Heck-BMW, not Ruck. Although as you're neither an English nor German native speaker I can see how you could have made that mistake!

I was thinking about 'Rucksack' (those Eigenbaus had weird names). I always thought that East-german Klodwig drove the first rear-engined car in an F1 championship race.

While we're waiting for ChrisS to think up a question, let's go through the alphabet - no looking up!

    Alfa Romeo
    BMW Eigenbau
    C?
    Duncan Rollo
