The whole incident is just so sad, I’ve known Colin for quite some years, and got to know him and the McRae family so very well.
I worked with Colin as one of his rally engineers during his time with ford in the late eighties, and what brilliant times they were.
The sport has lost an amazing character, a true genius and a true legend.
Such a sad double loss for the McRae family, our thoughts are with them.

Sadly we weren't able to get oficial confirmation in time, otherwise I can assure you that a minutes silence would have been observed for Colin.
I was discussing it with Neil and it would have been wrong to hold a minutes silence for him without knowing for sure that he was onboard, sadly news of the incident was scarce to say the least at the track, I was constantly asking people if we'd had confirmation, but it wasn't to be.

Colin's death was confirmed at about 1.30,i could'nt believe that a minutes silence was'nt held between the pickups finishing and the short oval races starting.

Exactly, not long before the cars were due out and I don't know about RJN up in the commentary box, but we certainly didn't hear about it as soon as it was confirmed. I am sorry for the loss and if we could have held a 1 minute's silence, it would have been done.

A great shame to lose Colin McRae
I would think there would be a special tribute to him at the Autosport show next year, like they've done with Richard Burns a few years agohttp://s304.photobucket.com/albums/n...nLarsen280385/

Tänak and Ogier are fighting for the win, so they are definitely on pace, but Neuville from a worse road position keeps the same tempo. It's a great job by Neuville.
