Those of "questionable knowledge" will be the scientists. You might think that rocket science is hard but:
Rocket Scientist:
Someone who understands Newton's Laws of motion and basic chemistry.
Rocket Engineer:
Someone who can design & build a device light enough to leave the earth but strong enough to withstand the forces needed to get it off the ground while coping with fuel at around -200°C and combustion at over 2000°C.

Without a WRC round in the USA Ford wont change their position. Its not like they have tested the water and backed a car in their own domestic championships. Mustang is one of their mainstay models...
I can't see Ford being more involved than they are now. The GT3 Mustang seems to be more of a priority.....and even has full Ford branding on the WEC coverage....
The startlist has good names on it, atleast 7-8 of them can fight for the victory.
