How much did Ogier gain for hitting the barrier last year in Mexico? Hitting a barrier or cutting a corner should never be penalized in a rally because it’s part of the sport nature; the purpose is to follow the route without the need to be inside its limits, once this is not circuit racing. Unfortanetly some years ago the FIA officials started to think differently and penalties become current; in that sense Ogier is entitle to ask for those to be applied.
Btw, this ‘Tanak dominates until car fails’ routine is frustrating; only WRC2 Pro farce seems to be worse (even if Ostberg stopped moaning). Hopefully P2 figth will be exciting to follow; fingers crossed.Rally addict since 1982

Well it is not hard to see that the Ogier penalty in Mexico 2018 was a lot about "punishing" him for starting the Powerstage mess in Sweden. (followed in Mexico by Neuville and Tanak)
EDIT2: Actually after double checking the attached pic does indeed show the correct spot in the roadbook.
Seems to just show "go trough gate" (probably marking a pole on the right side, since both sides were open and there was a pole on the right in both openings it's imo hard to punish people for not following it.Last edited by mknight; 27th April 2019 at 21:37.

if flap stuck closed.. simply means engine starved of air... if flap stuck open... it could mean bent engine valves.

"I said last night that it was necessary to copy and paste the first day, and today, we managed to do better!" Exclaimed Thierry Neuville at the microphone Olivier Gaspard, the envoy RTBF special in Argentina We can be very satisfied with the day The car was impeccable I knew that Ott Tanak had a problem, he started the engine just five seconds before starting the stage. He knew he was not going to go very far, everything can still happen tomorrow, we'll have to manage better and try to get through the three stages we have left, they're pretty brittle. we know that we will probably be struggling on some upcoming rounds (sweeping Friday, especially in Chile, Ed). "
"I was in a fight with Ott Tanak, and he seems to have cut too, and in that situation I would also be pleading for a penalty." I went to the left. Nicolas (Gilsoul, his co-driver, Ed) had told me during the reconnaissance that it was absolutely necessary to go to the left, by the barrier. It is certainly easy to lose three to four seconds, but That's how it was, in previous years you could go right, this year no, and you have to respect the course, but my main competitor is not racing, so somewhere I do not care! A resurfaced track, along with some changes to a couple of the run off areas. As usual, a chance for changing weather, which can also bring the race alive. With several cars now fighting with...
