I know references to F1 piss Rally fans off, but I can't help but think that this move is for similar reasons as Schumacher's move to Ferrari in 1996. Crap car. If Ogier wins, it is because of him, and he is a hero. If Ogier loses, it was because of a crap car. Same motivation IMO as Schumacher back then. A new challenge with very little downside.

You could be right, or it could be that the transmission in the Citroen is better than the Toyota.....to assume that the Toyota is better in every department because it was the best overall is odd....
I found his comment interesting, and maybe a little surprising, but it doesn't mean that it isn't true.

It could be just the transmission in Citroen is much better than transmission in Citroen one month ago. Nobody said Lappi is comparing anything to Toyota.
Visit South Moravia. It is the real paradise

How can second level drivers get P2 in Sweden and Finland on a crap car? Easy, the car they drive isn’t crap at all. The C3 has been steadily improving since late 2017 and it can now win at any surface with a top driver. Ogier may take a bit to adjust it to his driving style (like in the Fiesta) but he’ll be competitive since the first outing, and hopefully so will Lappi.

The car isn't crap, it just isn't consistent. Ogier referenced it himself in the recent interview, some surfaces its very good, others it isn't. I'm sure over the course of the season they will make better in the places it is not at its best. I witnessed it myself on WRGB, on day 2 it looked very good, on day 3 it looked awful.
