Dakar 2018 route - some days the road sections look just as demanding as the stages.

Really looking forward to following it again! Should be a good battle at the cars.

Loeb drove wihtout brakes since 3rd kilometer. Quite early for technical issues...
Anyway obviously a difficult stage even when it was short. The gaps are huge for 31 km!
And finally the official live timing looks like something usableLast edited by Mirek; 6th January 2018 at 21:07.

This article does not sound too happy about Borgward's prospects. Initial street vehicles - foton parts....supposed to be a factory opening in Germany this year.
Dakar entry - Borgward's sold in a few regions around the world - marketing budget probably approved months ago. Dakar rules pretty loose for 'proto-type entries that are not overall contenders'. c.f Haval a few years back.

Loeb looked shaved and ready for the task.

The Peugeots probably deliberately lost time on this first short stage. This way they start further back on the long second stage which has difficult navigation.
A nice analysis from the rally: https://dirtfish.com/rally/wrc/what-we-learned-from-rally-italy-sardinia-2024/
