Word from Volkswagen's Finnish test day says Mikkelsen's day ended prematurely due to an engine failure. #WRC2017

And there was also some problems with engine while Latvala was driving according what I have heard.
Also they should have been this test 2 weeks ago but also then the engine blow and they cancelled the test.

On Friday the test day was stopped for a couple of hours due to an engine work. I have no details what went wrong, but I know the engine was removed from the car. However, the test day continued for the last light hours normally. Yesterday the engine failed right after lunch break. Mikkelsen drove normally to the other end of the test road, then slower back and eventually the car was towed to service and the team packed up. Minor issue, propably, but enough to end the day.

Anyone know whe VW are testing this week. 2x 2017 cars just drove past me in Abergavenny South Wales. Seems strange they wernt on lorries though. We are about 20 miles from nearest ex rally GB stages

Very interesting Steve. Hyundai/Neuville are also in Wales testing today judging by his Instagram. Could only see the current car in his post.

Just surprised me to see them driving, and not in a back of a lorry. Do they need to test for road sections as well maybe.

Got the feelers out Steve, but as you say unusual for them to be on a road section so far away from a potentially usable stage...
