BTCC Points System
I was checking out the points scores for all the drivers and teams, and I'm very confused as to how these points work out how they do.
Here are the team's standings:

And here are the Manufacterers standings:

You can see that SEAT are leading the teams, but Vauxhall are leading the Manufacturers. I've looked up the points system for the BTCC but I can't find anything telling me about the teams' and manufacturers' championships.
Also, Turkington is the lead independant in the overall standings, but Jordan is leading the Indie championship. I'm not entirely sure how that works out either.
If anyone could explain how this works I would appreciate this, I'm not very good with logic and there's probably a reasonable explaination. I just can't think of oneBTCCCrazy.co.uk

I invite anyone to correct me if I am wrong but isn't it to do with placings? Their was a thread similar to this ages ago.
I think in the case of the Manufacturers Championship VXR have been the highest finishers and more often between the two factories, but in the Teams Championship SEAT have finished have been the highest finishers and more often overall.
But I admit defeat explaining the Independents. If Turks has scored the most in the Independents he must surely also be the driver to score the most overall.Manufacturers Champs (06'), Teams Champs (07')

Well in the manufacturers only SEAT and Vauxhall are scoring points, so to get the Manufacturers' total points all non-works teams are ignored in race results, so you will get different results.
In the Independents' Cup all non-independents' are effectively ignored from the race result. This means consistency is a lot more important in the Independents' Cup than in the overall championship. With Turkington having had some misfortune this year it has allowed Mike Jordan, who has generally finished most races, to lead the Independents'.Blackadder! Blackadder! With many a cunning plan,
