Hayden Paddon says the ERC is the best value for money rally Championship in the world. Its half the cost of WRC2 and with similar live coverage, great events & stages, plus the Rally2 cars are the 'main show'.

He absolutely loved doing the ERC and hopes to come back again in 2024.

It seems rally websites still haven't picked up on the fact that Paddon is not the first non-European ERC champion. Poor, forgotten Jean-Joseph...

In a way they are right. He was competing under the French flag.

You can be French but not European, because France is a transcontinental country. Would you ever consider someone from Ankara or Siberia as European? They're from Asia, no matter if their countries have regions in Europe.

I think Paddon meant this differently. This year the target was purely winning the ERC Title and that meant taking points and no risks. Next year he aims to push for rally wins rather than the Championship.

Norbert Herczig is planning to return to ERC in 2024 after a short try at WRC2 this year.

According to a Gran Canaria website.

    https://motoraldia7.com/noticia/el-4...4-de-mayo-2024

There is already a date for the 48th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias (Gran Canaria) next year, where it will continue in the European Rally Championship (ERC), a championship that will be finished in August.

The date will be the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May 2024, almost the same dates as in 2023, being the second round of the ERC also the same as last year, but this time after the Hungarian Rally. In a calendar with eight rounds (Hungary, Canary Islands, Poland, Scandinavia, Estonia, Rome, Barum and Ceredigion), the last round is scheduled to take place in August.

On the other hand, the presence of the Rally Islas Canarias in the World Rally Championship (WRC) would be almost done, missing only tie some sponsorship contracts, especially with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands, vital for all this to become a reality in the very near future.

Can’t wait for next year’s Rali Ceredigion, it was a great event this year and would be even better with the ERC’s best at the head of the field
