Juha Kankkunen
WRC.com
"Organisers of the Incas Road Rally, Peru's best known rally, have announced Juha Kankkunen's participation in this year's classic event.
The four-times world champion will drive the punishing 10-day rally in a Group N Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII with co-driver Seppo Harjanne.
In the past, renowned rally drivers have made an appearance at the South American event. Tony Fall won the rally in 1969 in a Ford Escort. One year later, Hannu Mikkola entered but retired early. In 1995, former Audi and British Leyland factory driver John Buffum competed in an Audi Coupe S2, but lost a potential victory when he was excluded for running with an oversized turbo restrictor.
Kankkunen will aim to follow Fall's path when the rally starts on Friday, September 14, and finishes in the capital city of Lima on Sunday, September 23. "GG: "I'm stinky! I needa good shower and nice bowl of pasta!"
