    Good old Mads..

"Because it was a cheap car, though, nothing worked consistently on it the way it should have. I remember I had some brake problems with the car, which we never really found the cause of. But just from time to time, I lost the brake assistance, so I couldn’t really stop the car, and that was quite scary…"

Two drivers are in contention for that drive, with WRC veteran Henning Solberg one of them.

Asked about the identity of the other, Ostberg replied: "I'm not going to tell you, but you would be surprised."

    Interesting...

However, I will wish him well, but I'm not sure what his plans are for the sport.
We need a strong WRC, but also a viable 2nd tier series, i;e ERC and strong regional series. There has to be more to the sport than just WRC.
FIA rally director itís certainly an influential post, but itís not up to him to decide rallysport future; heís mainly a general supervisor. The important stuff (new rules, calendars, etc) are decided on the WRC Commission (were manus, organizers and the promoter have seats) or on the Rally Commission. Anyway, Matton has the experience to make a proper job; best luck to him.

You are too optimistic. The important stuff are decided "behind", WRC commission is only theatre...

For sure many matters are discussed behind the formal meetings, but it’s up to the Commission to present and subject them to FIA assembly (WMSC) approval. Besides, all major WRC players are represented on the WRC Commission.
